Dark Souls

Blue phantoms invaders are from the darkmoon covenant.

What does Darkmoon Covenant do ? I killed Gwyndolin in both games without joining him.

It's actually not a dead player's items but gear you drop. Depending on what you drop they turn into a "vagrant." I've killed a bunch and I've always got humanity from them. I agree that its a really neat idea that' the devs incorporated into the game!

Re-read the guide. It says the Drift Item may appear at the location where the other MP player(s) died. Doesn't say anything about the source of the items. So you may be right !

I didn't drop any item in NG+ though. Hmm... come to think of it, it may be one of those drops the Darkwood trees left behind. I killed so many of them that one of their drops is now full. I can't pick up the item anymore.

Yap, he gets it. One of the key elements is:

Nobody tells you

... what to do, how to succeed, who's your enemies or friends (Not all NPCs can be trusted), why you're there, where to go in Dark Souls. It's a lot like life, so you use your real-life skills (and the net !) to approach the game. And when you succeed, the sense of achievement is more real.

There is usually a way around the challenges. Most of the difficulty and pressure are psychological. Once I overcame them, it's not so bad. In fact, the more frightened you are, the closer you must stick to the enemy's side or behind or belly. That's usually where the weakness is. ^_^

And as usual, know your limits. Running away to fight another day is an option sometimes.

Darkmoons invade the worlds of people who sinned (indicted). If you want lots of darkmoon invasions go to Anor Londo and kill big boobs lady lol.

I'm pretty sure that vagrants arent created by dead MP players... otherwise there would be ton of them at the kiln, since there's tons of invasions there.

Yay, I finally took the plunge by leaving my white soapstone in Anor Londo. Helped beat O&S twice from beginning to end (Evidently, they all wanted Ornstein's spear). Failed 5-6 times because summoner got killed by invader, or I got killed. 8^(

One of the invaders was blue. Strangely, one of the friendly phantoms was bright orange/yellow ?

It's definitely the more fun and rewarding way to level up.

I think the guide just specifies the spawn location of Drift Items. They may indeed be dropped items. I wouldn't know !

EDIT: Enough Dark Souls for the day ! Leveled up 3 times.

I also started experimenting with heavy weapons. So far I like my +15 Zweihaender the best. It's not quite as painfully slow and heavy as other weapons its class, and the heavy attack is an instant win against just about any enemy which isn't extremely big.

I saw a Lightning Zweihaender (probably + 5) in PvP action today. I was dumbfounded. This guy tore through 7 consecutive invaders alone. They threw spells and all sorts of weapons at him, but all of them were stunned and chopped up in 2 strokes. It's ridiculous ! :devilish:

Those are in Solaire's covenant, like me. They make the "praise the sun" gesture as they arrive into the hosts world. And you get Sunlight medals if you help beat a boss together with such a phantom.

Joined another covenant. The Path of the Dragon. Which is awesome.

I collected enough Dragon Scales to receive the Dragon Torso. Now I can change my character into a Dragon, making her way more powerful. I can't wear any armour, which is a downside, but it should be fun to see what I can do by changing my equipment to fit those strengths and weaknesses.

Blue invaders are darkmoons

orange phantoms are sunbros - my favorite covenant :)

4 kings gives you 60k souls if you beat it. Very easy way to earn souls.

At lower levels lightning zwei is pretty powerful if you have high poise. Pretty much tank through everything. At higher levels not so much!!

Heh heh, crazy FROM developers. I should try that too ! Have been saving up dragon scales.

Not sure what his stats are, but he's around SL160. I think most of the invaders didn't expect to get hit and stunned so quickly.

EDIT:
The Zwei's swing is incredibly wide (About 320 degrees ?), so you have to time and position very accurately to backstab him successfully. Otherwise, you'll be hit.

I spend a few hours farming dragon scales just for this.

I'm thinking of focusing more on a strength build. If I can stagger my opponent with the dragon's roar and get a damage boost at the same time, I might as well make the next hit count. And I can still use my fire, lighting, and enchanted Washing Pole's if I need a faster weapon.

Yes, strength build is pretty interesting because you can play more weapons ! The Dragon Greatsword heavy attack looks the most terrifying if you can wield it (It's like a f*cking earthquake).

Dark Souls Live Play Session Draws Record Nico Nico Visitor Count
http://andriasang.com/comzl6/dark_souls_nico_nico/

A recent concluded sixty hour live play session of Dark Souls at Nico Nico Douga reached a 2.3 million viewer count, ITmedia reported over the weekend. This is a record figure for the video sharing site.

The broadcast, conducted by technology site Gadget Tsuushin, kicked off on January 3 at noon and ended on January 6 at 53 minutes past midnight. The broadcast staff, joined by Hiroyuki Nishimura, CEO of Nico Nico operator Niwango, played through the game twice. From Software gave permission for the broadcast but was not directly involved.

What's the best place to go after Anor Londo?

I'm exploring New Londo Ruins right now. I made a cursed Greatsword of Artorias. I haven't got the stats to wield it the game says, but it's one hit killing ghosts just fine.

New Londo Ruins, Tomb of the Giants or Duke's Archive is fine.

I am jealous of your Cursed Greatsword of Artorias. No big deal if you can't wield it yet. It's not that good compared to BKGS and other upgraded Greatswords.

Use the Curse item, or Ghost Dagger to clear the ghosts. The Dark Wraiths and other monsters in this world are more challenging.

I have the dragon suit... its ok. Its really not worth all that investment in time just for that force attack. Better off rolling a strength/faith hybrid. 28 faith is all you need for WOG. You can still have 40 END, 40STR and 40 VIT with about 10 levels left over to hit SL120

Take it with a grain of salt...

EXCLUSIVE: DARK SOULS DLC EXISTS, COMING SOON
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/exclusive-dark-souls-dlc-exists-coming-soon/

A source close to the project has told EGM that some form of expanded content is in the process of being finished up for Dark Souls, and will be released as DLC at some point in the first quarter of this year.

While we were unable to get further details on what this new DLC will feature, late last year it was discovered that From Software had filed for an interesting trademark in Japan. That trademark was for “Yami no Mori”—which could be translated as “Forest of Darkness” or “Dark Forest”.

While we have no reason at this point to believe that the two are connected, we also have no reason to instantly discount the idea.

Ahh ok. most people stop at SL120 for PVP. He must have over 2k in health so he can pretty much tank through anything.

I re-rolled my strength build... I was stunlocking people left and right but didnt have enough stamina to finish them off... I could get off only 3 consecutive swings using BKGS.

So now I'm going to invest more points into END so I can carry more weight so I dont have to use Havels ring. Instead of Havel's ring, I'll use RFAP to add 20% more HP, Stamina, and weight carrying ability and Wolf ring to bring me over 100 poise. 100 poise is enough to tank through almost anything... the only people I have worry about are people wearing full havels set and an ultra greatsword/axe

My favorite is stunlocking someone and finishing them off with the BKGS 2HR2 attack.. first theres the huge windup and they go flying straight up in the air.... I always get indicted after I do that lol
