The simple bottom line is that CD Red had certain goals with this game. None of them were achieved. That represents a failure. It doesnt matter how unrealistic those goals may seem to us. CD Red had them and they werent achieved
That is all fine and dandy, but the bottom line is, what is the ROI. And could the investors/CDPR gotten better ROI on something else, with the same level of risk.
One could argue about it by looking at their shareprice
before Cyberpunk 443 zloty
currently 167 zloty, i.e. less than half
I think they realize now waiting 6 months would of been the best thing to do, hopefully it serves as a lesson to other companies, in dont release products prematurely (I'm just dreaming of course)
Share price is as much psychology as anything else, so if the stock market believed that hitting 70M+ sales was doable, they would inflate the stock price to reflect that. Now it looks like it wont happen, ie there has been a correction.
But if they waited that 6 months, the share price and investors probably would have gone bonkers anyway. Mainly because CDPR was not able to deliver on time. Also dropping multi-player, probably did not help, compared to GTA V, which is printing money due to MP, I guess.
As for the game it self, I hope that some DLC could make it more interesting. Or at least some mod tools to create missions etc.
I would love to see it as some sort of MMRPG.
