How to install updates on the 360
I translated and edited it since I couldn't find an online guide in english. I knew about
http://www.xbuc.net because I thought that maybe some day I might have to install an update manually.
First you have to format your USB drive using the options available in the Memory settings menu. Here is a guide, but it's a very easy process..
http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/how-to/usb-flash-drive.
Once you have done this...
a) Download this program called Xtaf Gui v44
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PFCECJ60
b) Plug your USB drive into the USB port of your PC.
c) Download this program called Xtaf Gui
http://www.mediafire.com/?4m4t5ch72i28vrf
d) Run the program and in File menu select Open Drive:
e) Then you should see listed a "Cache Partition" and a "Data Partition". Choose Cache Partition.
f) When the Cache folder appears, the right side of the window will be empty. Just drag and drop the update file you downloaded from
http://www.xbuc.net/ . You can also click the right mouse button and use the Inject option and load the file manually.
All the names of the updates start with a TU.
Before downloading an update you have to make sure the Region Code of your DVD matches the Media ID of the patch you download from xbuc.net
The media ID are the numbers and letters after the hyphen.
To know this you need to go to
http://abgx360.net/download.php and download this program called abgx360
If I understood it correctly you have to insert your Xbox 360 DVD into your PC DVD drive and check the Media ID with this software.
Here is a guide:
http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/co...des/1244-how-stealth-patch-xbox-360-game.html
However, you may not need the abgx360.
After "injecting" the file in your USB drive using the Xtaf Gui software, you have to plug your USB drive into the Xbox 360 and launch the game. It should update to the version 1,1 of Skyrim.
If it doesn't it's because your media ID doesn't match that of the DVD, but you can try the different files in the list
http://www.xbuc.net/?searchString=Skyrim and see which one works, sigh
. My media ID should be the PAL one. Either that or the PAL NTSC/U file whose Media ID is 49A1477A
xbuc.net allows you to search files by their media ID.
If I update the game is quite broken, and if I don't I won't be able to chat online. It sucks.
