Custom Cellphone Software

I just bought a Samsung u740 from Bell Mobility. I know it runs Java, because I can see it loading when I start some programs. I don't think it's using a standard OS, however. Then again, I know little about cellphones, as this is my first one.

I'm wondering how I can get custom software onto this thing, or perhaps write some myself. In particular, the calender system is not so great. Any ideas?

get the sun wtk and maybe something from nokia/se , get something simple on your pc,


then pray you find out how to get it onto your u740... in general you'd wanna OTA the app , ie have a server that faces the internet,, then browse to it from your phone and 'install' via the JAD file... ( i dont know exactly how this is setup )..
dont know if you can install via a cable ? some phones can install via bluetooth (or infra red) transfer.........

samsung are rubbish for support and it's also possible your carrier has made it difficult to install apps
