Crytek: No Crysis In The Next Gen

So no next-gen Crysis for the moment at least, and PC fans will have cause for cheer, knowing one of the most exciting shooters in development is heading exclusively onto the big beige box. But, perhaps hope is not totally lost for next-gen fans and that concluding hint of 'before we made any move onto consoles' might see a future Crytek-engined title queued up for the future.

Crytek's first priority was always the PC. All the article is saying is that the next Crytek games will be on PC first, which we knew, then ported to consoles later on, which we knew....:D

well it might not be ported it could be like farcry: instincts on the xbox, similar but gameplay more tuned to a console experience

most PC fps don't come across on consoles to well unless they are more arcade like, which I don't think crysis is going to be

Exactly and imo the PC version is superior to the console version and so different that I wouldn't even call it a port.

I agree, with "ported" i meant "converted" like they usually do... Some call it "dumbed down bastardisation", some call it "arcade-y conversion" :D

If Gaming.Hexus confirms it, I think that we can safely assume that it won't be exclusive. :p

Anyway, Geo, I thought that you heard the rumours about Crysis a few months ago.
Back then the Console port of the game was not only a possibility but in the works.

I think that the only thing we can safely assume about this news is that the game won't be released simultaneously on every platforms.

They'll release the PC version first, then they'll keep on doing what they do the best and release a patch for AMD LIVE!™ that adds better textures, then a patch for Intel© VIIV plateforms that adds multiplayer maps, then a patch for Nvidia's G80 that disables HDR for Ati Radeon cards, then a patch for the Ati R600 that adds Canadian most famous landmarks to the game and finally they'll release a Console version.

Oooh, I hope they don't charge too much for that one! <geo counts his pennies>

you forgot to add that none of the patches will ever make it beyond a beta quality and the only way to see or hear about the amazing things they can do in the game will be through third party sources. some of the patches will make it out onto the likes of p2p software. You try a downloaded patch or two this way and the first time you try to play with it installed it happily tells you its deleted all your save game files and your multiplayer no longer works also that you may experiance severe negative performance impact.

Lastly, after you delete it all in frustration you realize in irony that all the benchmarks online are showing that SM2.0D (yes thats right "D" as in it wont freaking DIE!) is actually running the game faster then SM4.0 in DX10 and that your feature packed card is doing absolutly nothing visually impossible nor viewable to your eyes over previous cards but manages to lose performance none the less.

Heh, yeah Crytek is the only developer I know to make it huge and sell out huge all with just a single game.
