Could the Doom3 demo have used RV250?

I'm not sure if this was posted before but according to this months PC Gamer (UK) the DoomIII demo at E3 was running in 1280x1024 - I have my doubts about this being Rv250 if that were the case.

The magazine also has a few more screenshots of the game so I'll see if I can grab some time to scan a couple.

Of the 4 screenshots that came out 2 were 1024x768 with 4xOGAA, 1 was 1024x768 with no AA and one was 1600x1200 with 4xOGAA.

Unless they were software rendered I doubt the r250 could manage 4xAA at 1600x1200, it also looks to not be supersampling which presumably the r250 will be.

The Rv250 is NOT a 8500 LE, its a value product based on a the 8500 that is clocked higher and is supposed to be released in June.

Why would a tech demo like DOOM3 use a value product?

And besides, JC still says that he prefers the GeForce4 over the Radeon 8500, so I don't know why he'd ever use a derivative of the 8500 for a tech demo.

I have VERY good info. it was not a Rv 250 ;)

Yes. I too have have heard from direct sources that it was the first revision of R300 that was used.

RV250 will perform pretty similarly to R200. It's a mainstream card, not a high-end one. That being the case, JC would have used nVidia's card (NV28?) instead of it. With NV30 barely taped out, R300 was the fastest card available to JC for E3 by quite a margin.

MuFu.
