X1X shores up some of the customer base and revenue that MS have been bleeding (but by no means all our even most of it) and begins to reestablish some of MS's reputation as a provider for the core gamer. It also sets out MS's vision as a platform provider.
It isn't an aggressive strike against the PS4 and PS5 though. MS aren't in a position to do that.
A modestly improved X1S wouldn't be an aggressive move either. It's about making the most of what they have.
We don't need a third target platform though, not at this point. No-one needs that. Not developers, not platform holders, not retailers.
