Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) (SARS-CoV-2) [2020]

I seem to recall reading that it can take up to 28 days for traces of viral RNA to disappear from samples. Symptoms? Depends on how severe the infection has been in the first place, I suppose. Those on ventilators who survive are going to be weeks recovering. I reckon 14 days after the symptoms end would be about right. We're saying 7 days in the UK, of course.

Incubation period is thought to be 14-19 days

2-14 days with an average of 5 is the typical answer to that question.

One is unlikely to be infectious during all of those 28 days. There is evidence suggesting that antibodies will neuter the virus even though it will still give a positive test result.

The digestive tract should also disable it as it's fat based. It's virions created in the respiratory tract and leaving out the mouth that infect people.

And how long does it take to recover?
It will be a hard time for people who were days on ventilators. Some of them will never fully recover.

"Mr Johnson, 55, tested positive for coronavirus 10 days ago." And now he is in the hospital since yesterday.

On Saturday, his pregnant partner Carrie Symonds tweeted that she had spent a week in bed with the main symptoms.

She said she had not been tested for the virus.
What the hell?

17% deaths? Wow. UK's at 10%. This BBC report reckons the Netherlands is going with an 'Intelligent Lockdown' and happy to let the virus spread 'slowly'.

As I replied elsewhere yesterday in practice this is what everyone now does, as stopping the virus completely now seems off the table - focus on taking those measures necessary to make sure everyone can be treated, the weak / elderly are protected and hospitals aren’t overwhelmed. We have social distancing, all events canceled till June, everyone who can must work from home, schools closed for all children except those with parents working in essential jobs, bars restaurants closed for anything except takeaway and delivery, keep at 1.5m distance when outside etc

And those steps are almost as strict as any other European country. And they are working, waiting for today’s numbers but the last 4 days our numbers have been dropping.

Sweden is a better example of what the article is suggesting about the Netherlands.

The BBC got confused (as did we briefly) because one press event discussed herd immunity but that was only as a long term goal which wasn’t clearly communicated and rectified a day later.

Hang on, he's not hospitalised. "Taken to hospital" isn't qualified and risks people assuming the worst. I do wish the world used data and info properly to communicate what exactly reality is! He's there having tests, apparently. But if you see the video from before the weekend, he has no trouble breathing and claims only a temperature...

Now it may be something of a cover-up, with him having loads of oxygen before making that video, and then being carted off, but the actual info is he's been ten days, hasn't fully recovered, so is going in for some check-ups to see why his temperature is still up.

Seems every country that mentioned 'herd immunity' got branded. ;)

I wonder if being previously infected with one of the endemic coronaviruses provides protection against the full onset of the covid-19 disease. Similar to how cowpox protected milkmaids from smallpox.

That children and younger adults/parents are much less affected seems to suggest as much - they are typically much more frequently / recently exposed to loads of common cold variations which are also corona viruses if I understood things correctly.

Colds can be caused by Coronaviruses as well as other pathogens. Colds aren't really a specific disease and just covers the mild symptoms of various infections.

Ohio's numbers today, confirmed: 4450 (up from 4043 ), Hospitalized: 1214 (up from 1104 ), and 142 Deaths (up from 119 ).
Confirmed Cuyahoga County: 871 (Up from 826 ).

Percentage Growth numbers close to yesterdays, still increasing but nowhere near the 25%-35% early numbers. However now even 10% represents larger raw numbers of nearly 450/120/15.

There are now talks about them doing random sampling testing to determine how wide-spread COVID-19 actually is.

And now it's time where even the local States can not trust the US Federal Government.

i feel for the good people of the USA, the good, but it is a country now filled with ignorance, and one wonder how someone who is the president says "there will be a lot of dead ahead". Aren't people ashamed there the thing won?
