*Confirmed* Original Crysis Bound for *PS360

I highly doubt but any chance to see the cryengine 3 on the ps3 to use spu & the other ram left for improve the graphic performance on the hardware, in cryisis 1? Every time I see this lack of info about the ps3 version I can't to avoid to be 'suspicious'...

There was an interview a while back when this was first revealed that detailed some improvements they've made to the engine since the launch of Crysis 2. These improvements should benefit both systems, including the ps3, so there's a good chance it'll turn out better than Crysis 2 on the system IMO.

I have a feeling the picky PS3 FPS gamers will want Move support for this game. I see them ask the same question in every FPS game released thus far (after KZ3).

Would move even work well with all the suit powers? I've only used the Wii and I can't imagine that control scheme working well with a Crysis game.

Besides, it's a $20 budget title, I'd hope people wouldn't be that picky. =p

How do you activate the suit powers ?

We have seen cheap PSN games patched to use Move. If Crytek want to, they should be able to do it.

Err why cant it work with move?
They are probably using the Crysis 2 scheme meaning, sprint/powerode will be passive abilities and only cloak and armor mode will be active abilities binded to L2 and R2.

Strength is a contextual power, so when you pick a person up and throw them, you're using strength. However springing is mapped to the left analog stick like many other shooters while cloak and armor are mapped to the shoulder buttons (L1 and R1 possibly?).

Basically even if they could get it to work, I'm doubtful it'll work well. Who knows, maybe it could work out fine. I just know that with the suit options, I wouldn't want to use a motion controller.

True, but you're using more of the controller in Crysis than you are in a typical shooter where you mostly have buttons mapped to reload, fire, and possibly grenades. Again, maybe it could work and I'm wrong, I just know with how active you need to be with said powers in some circumstances, I wouldn't want to use motion controls for it.

Also keep in mind that I'm mostly basing my experience off of my play time with the Wii, as I mentioned above. I know Move offers more buttons than a Wiimote with nunchuck, so maybe it'll work better there.

The control scheme is like other shooters ? The throwing part sounds interesting with a motion controller. Should not be a huge problem to carry over the default scheme.

Motion gaming is a very personal experience. I find a wide range of feedback from folks. Those who love it seem to think they improve the basic gameplay. The "hardcore" ones claim they want Move in every shooter.

EDIT:
I should also say the Move gamers prefer a KZ3 style free floating pointer aim. That's why Insomniac has to change the fixed pointer aiming in R3 (like Wii shooters ?) to follow KZ3 in patch 1.04.

That's the thing though, IMO it's not like other shooters. Most shooters have jump, duck, reload, fire, change weapon, run, and throw grenade. Well Crysis has all of these, plus a couple more inputs for suit powers.

If you guys think it could work with Move, great, but I would think it would be a bit cumbersome to manage all of that on a motion controller.

Move has no R2/3 and L2/3. But it has an extra T button and gestures. e.g. You roll the controller to reload. Sometimes, you thrust to melee. The dpad and left stick are still available for use.

e.g. You have jetpack controls in KZ3, and special abilities in KZ3 and R3 also.

It's a motion controller with a load of buttons, and a nunchuck with a load of buttons. Not as many as a DS3, granted, but I'm sure something could be cooked up. Not that I care for Move-based shooters personally.

Yeah you're right. I'm probably just not opening my mind to the options. Would be interesting to see how they'd implement it.

I'm really curious as to how it turned out. Hope Digitial Foundry get on the case ASAP.

Same here as there is no demo to see how the game runs, hopefully we'll see something from DF soon - I'm mostly curious/interested about the game's performance (hopefully it's better than the first half of Crysis 2), from what I've seen the game looks very good for a console title so that's not a concern. :p

Well I've got it. I dont really have technical chops so I'm eager someone else to comment.

I was really impressed with the opening night scene, really really impressed. Less so once the sun comes out.

For sure I can say this, it has a lot of pop in, and the water animation seems extremely choppy.

There seems to be some oddities with the visuals I cant quite wrap my head around.

So the answer "is it reasonable facsimile of Crysis" seem to still be "I'm not sure".

Overall it makes me wish for "Crysis enhanced edition" on next gen consoles :p

Edit2: I didn't want to say anything but it seemed a good deal easier (difficulty) too. But they are saying the same thing on GAF So I guess it is.

Game seems fun though. Without the bugs and with easier (to me) console controls, I feel a little more of that sandbox nature everybody is always saying Crysis had.

For example, early on I'm supposed to destroy a radar. After the firefight rather than dally I took off swimming. I went wandering off a long ways to another checkpoint, then decided to head back. Once back at the radar, I figured I'd missed some prompt or cue on how to destroy it as the game expected me too, and was out of luck. On a whim I took a red barrel off the pier, dropped it next to the radar, walked away and shot it. To my surprise the game handled it and it worked and destroyed the radar!

Destruction is in there too, something I never used on my PC playthrough...

Lot of glitches seems, some ground texture flickering in a particular spot on the beach for example that doesnt go away. I'm guessing Crytek didn't try to charge full price for this precisely because of it's somewhat buggy nature. But if the bugs are only visual as it seems (unlike PC version), that's fine.

I was very impressed by what little I got to play this morning. I haven't come across any huge firefights, but the frame rate seemed smoother than what I remember in Crysis 2. Lighting was impressive, though it seemed a tad too dark at night.

The game does have pop in, but it didn't seem as bad as Crysis 2. The reflections in the water were choppy and seemed to pop or shift as I moved along the beach.

Overall, this exceeds what I expected out of a Crysis port so far.

Yes, that is one of the "oddities" in the graphics I mentioned.

Another is it seemed when dawn was breaking, as if the area except the middle of the screen sort of darkens whenever you look around? It's very odd I cant describe it.

I think they didn't charge full price because it's a 4 year old game. :p

Even the PC version had graphical oddities.

I didn't notice that when dawn approached in my game, I'll have to pay attention next time. I thought the game looked great during the day though.

I played through the first few hours on my gaming laptop, but I didn't care for how it controlled using a gamepad. Now that this version looks better overall and plays better, I'm eager to play through it now.
