Bioware Announcement @ X05

The game is 12-16months from release.

I was just happy Bioware announced the game, in-engine trailer was just a bonus.

I would've liked to see much more in-game stuff, but tomorrow I believe is the day when everyone gets to play the games, and I'm sure we'll get boatloads of in-game footage then...

I was actually dissapointed when Bioware did not announce anything back in E3. Now, I am a very happy person also :)

Given their reputation in RPGs, I do not expect anything less from them... Btw, is this their UE3 powered game?

Probably, we will get some more hands-on info later as everthing we now have is what was shown in key-note speech.. Btw, I did not see in anywhere that it is released in two months. Do you have a link for that?
Sorry I was not clear. IT = Xbox 360.

I would not expect this title until fall 2006 at the soonest, and probably not until sometime 2007. Looking good though!

* Digital actors: "Mass Effect" features a huge cast of in-engine digital actors that you will encounter as NPCs, enemies or as party members. Each will have life-like facial and body movements, and an advanced dialogue system will give them engaging personalities.

I remember Bioware had an ad on their website for the people who want their head scanned with a 3d-scanner to be used in a next-gen game quite a while ago. I believe we are gonna see a lot of Canadians in this game :D

While defending galactic peace and earning a position of respect for humanity in the community, gamers will discover that a greater conflict between organic life and artificial intelligence exists.
Sounds vaguely familiar.

If only somebody would remake Marathon as an RPG or next-gen FPS, I would be in heaven. Except it'd have to be an FPS, because an RPG would reveal too much (like "oh hey you can have cybernetic implants I WONDER WHY!").

That was for Jade Empire, but I do recall in the contract that the company would be able to use the data collected for future endeavours. :)

Yeah, because having a lot of white peoples heads in Jade Empire would have seemed a bit odd.

This game looks to be the next BIG MS hit. Everything looks so classy (I guess). You know how R* has that quailty feel with GTA, well this game shows that quailty feel BioWare knows how to do.

Developer Interview
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/video_player/popup.php?pid=930279&sid=6135110&tab=related

- Squad Based Fighting (3 person party) - KOTOR like
- FPS Elements
- Bioware going back to it's roots, hardcore RPG elements, deep class/leveling systems etc
- Huge, huge game. Quests + Subquests + Uncharted Worlds to Explore
- The closeup face in the video is ingame, and could actually be generated from the character creation screen

That I really like, and I hope, hope, hope and hope a bit more that it will be real time combat, especially if it is FPS, which gives me a bit of hope...

i have to say when i first saw the shots of this game i wasn't very impressed...

but when i saw it in motion my jaw dropped - completely takes on a new life. Seeing as i don't play screenshots, but rather like my games to be displayed in motion, i'm pretty intrigued by this game purely from a visual standpoint... the setting and story seem like they may be interesting too so they could be onto a winner

i would really love ot play a large open ended futuristic rpg... never really got into the whole RPG thing before, but i think plenty of guns may make a welcome bridge to get me into it ;)
