Let me address a few things, if I may.
First of all, thanks for all the feedback and thanks for listening!
WRT the show being a "one man" effort I have to agree for the most part. This is Arwin's baby and the first show was entirely researched and produced by him. I just chipped in commentary when I felt an opportune moment arose.
We intend to fix this by doing a few things.
Immediate fixes to go into effect as of Episode 2:
1) We are going to lay out a format with individual segments, specific topics will be presented by each of us, not just Arwin.
2) I will be researching topics to discuss as well, Arwin will not be doing this all on his own. I'm more of a hardware guy so I think the upcoming show I'll have a lot more to say, especially with the HotChips conference this week.
3) There were connection problems on my end which will be sorted out before the next show, namely in the form of a new cable modem and a wired connection to my router.
Mid-term/long-range fixes:
1) Guest speakers/interviews
2) Integrating some form of listener interaction probably via means of an episodic discussion thread.
Re: the time factor
We are shooting for 1-2 hours per show. The first show went long because of the sheer volume of material (both Siggraph and GamesCom were covered), and the lack of a concrete format. With segments and regular breaks it makes it much easier to break up the show into multiple episodes when there is a lot of content to cover as well.
Thanks again for the feedback, I'm sure Arwin will have more to add, perhaps tomorrow.
