So EA China has leaked some valuable info on this beloved franchise;) and finally we get to see this on nextgen consoles too.
- BF4 has a 1yr development cycle and has a tenative launch date of oct 23rd 2013

- it will be on the big 3 current gen systems as well as next gen platforms (only sony and M$, as well as pc)

- commander role in MP will return with new tools and abilities

- voice commands

- battlelog will be tied to the game

- game will support video recording with internal replay system this might be in box or via dlc.. thats unclear or if its universal paltform inclusion

- currently there are three factions: USA, Russia, and China!!

- female charcaters (NPC's) and the ability to play as them in MP

- next gen systems and pc will support 64-player MP however current gen console releases wont

- frostbite 2.0

- next gen console versions run @ approx 60fps, current gen @ 30fps, PC will ahve an FPS lock of 100fps

- exp system will be again present

Will buy on PS3 first and trade it in for PS4 version of course. I'm surprised they're aiming for 60fps, guess COD's days are numbered then.

Any numbers on the resolution like 720p@60fps or 1080p@60fps?
But the "M$" does make it sound like bullshit.... :p

Haha yeah, didn't catch that M$ part. Who knows, they don't sound completely far fetched though. As for the res I'd say 60fps@1080p since 720p would only make the system what twice as fast as current gen?

If it is 1080p@60fps i hope that becomes a standard.
Atleast make the 60fps part standard. So they can do 3D@30fps easier?
Dont really want to go back to 30 fps after gaming on pc for 2 years.

And if devs want to have more performance drop resolution for my part to 1600:900 then upscale it.

Why no link for this leak?

Also by 3 current gen consoles, you mean PS360 and Wii-U?

Measuring performance doesn't really work like that.

I  Bad Company 2. I never played BF3 on the PS3, but it tempts me now and then. I actually don't give a care about 60 fps and 1080p; what I care about is 64 players in Battlefield. I hope that becomes standard next gen. I don't want to see mega-scale games slashed to the bone in order to incorporate the latest graphical and physics techniques.

Performance cannot be measured by frame rate and resolution only. That only holds if you make the game exactly looking the same and bumo resolutions and frame rate only. But its going to have new shaders etc for sure..

For instance I can run quake 3 at 1080p @ 332 fps but it still looks like a ten year game.. What you render is going to set limits to what frame rate and resolution you are running things on.

Also the M$ part makes you sound like a fanboy

What are u wating for ? Go for BF3 right now, dude ! The community as well as the game is rocking on the ps3. And don't worry about lower player count, most of the maps are made for the console player count. Only a few maps are enjoyable with 64 players as of now.

Well it's true you can't measure it 1:1 but it really depends which route Dice is taking with it. BF4 would not be better looking in any significant ways if they intend to have COD like iterations, however if going with the Crysis 3 route with tons of tessellations and fancy lighting effects then 60fps at 720p should be pretty good. I still prefer 30fps at 1080p any day though.

60fps is nice but I'd be happy enough to just have 64 players at launch next gen. May have a PC by then, so I may even double dip.

None of this makes any sense. The game could look like BF3 on higher PC settings, 64 player, 720p30, and still look a lot better than the ps360 versions. Don't forget that better textures, shaders, filtering, less pop in, larger areas, more players, and more all contribute to the game on a technical level as well.

Would be cool if the progress you made was cross platform. So when friends are online on 720 or ps4 i can play with them without unlocking everything.

And when they are not online i can play on pc.

Yeah it would be great if they could save your progress to your origin account, that would make it easier for people who had multiple versions.

I double-dipped BF3 on PC and 360. 360 was a better overall experience for me.

Was it the smaller player count you preferred or something else? Most people give the impression that the PC version is far better.

Ultimately, it was the typical PC gaming stuff (Origin issues, drivers, server admins, voice chat, etc). After spending time researching solutions to various issues, I had to ask myself why I was even bothering. The console was just a smoother, less hassle experience.

IMO, the only area where the PC version is superior is graphically. For me, that is no longer enough.

People will cheat if they can, which makes competitive multiplayer on the pc a non-starter for me. I'm hoping the new consoles will be out not too long after this game is released and I can play it on one of those, otherwise I'll just play on the 360.
