It would probably a clever trojan horse into the PC games market...

Or the other way
This Tommy Fisher self proclaimed insider is now apparently verified by the mod on Gaf has the following summary:
* PS5 fab 7nm+/EUV
* PS5 cpu clock 200MGhz lower than XSX
* 52 active CUs at 2.0Ghz ~ 13.3TFlops for PS5
* 52 active CUs at 1.82Ghz ~ 12.1TFlops for XseX
* some setup of HBM is in PS5
* Judging from PS5's specs he's seen it'll most likely be a $599 cost with $100 loss and retail for $499
* PS5 reveal in Feb, shows the console too
* Fully trusts Klee, has he's absolutely reliable

We're heading towards the climax of the mid season break, few more episodes and all shall be revealed.

That’s conservative, PS5 gonna be 20TF i think, 3ghz gpu clock.

People are bothering so much with this stuff when we know PS5 dev kits have been very early and actual performance targets and benchmarks are in for months now. Flute, Ariel, Oberon...all codenames that are part of PS5.

As per Flute benchmark -

Zen2 stripped of some cache (as it takes most mm2 on die)

GPU - internal ID Arie clocked at 2.0GHZ (in Oberon, previos step Gonzalo from April - 1.8GHZ)

16GB of RAM on 256 bit bus (530GB/s of effective BW, could be 18Gbps chips for retail console).

We know from Komachi Oberon leak that there are 3 modes :

BC1 - 800MHZ
BC2 - 911MHZ
Base - 2.0GHZ

We know from APISAK leak that FireStrike score is ~20K. If we assume CPU is roundabout AMD 2700X in performance, then GPU part most certainly cannot be 13TF, but rather ~9-10TF, as effective bandwidth would point at as well.

IMO we should absolutely try to connect the dots of already leaked PS5 benchmarks, rather then listening to vague insiders and things they may or may not have heard. For PS5 therefore, I think we know what to expect and there will be little surprises. Sony sent first devkits back in 2018. There is 0 chance these have been anything else but GCN based.

As per Flute benchmark -
Wired article mentioned that there were low-speed versions of devkits.

The benchmark is likely to be one of the low-speed version rather than final silicon.

>20K, about 1700X, with 1.8ghz GPU.

Maybe, but luckily we have BW figures from Flute benchmark and we are talking about ~530GB/s of effective BW. For RT equiped console, I dont think that is enough for ~13TF GPU and shared , but I may be wrong.

If this is true, then both consoles are absolute monsters without any discernible visual differences in the multiplatform games, and the B3D collective should be happy about it because it would really translate into a massive upgrade compared to the current mid-gens.

I agree, but at this point, they should have just pulled their resources together and made a common SOC to both consoles. They can still differentiate by software, but basically they are spending a lot of effort and resources to both arrive at the same solution.

We have really small PC cases - smaller than this - that can house full PC components.

Anyway, what's with then just having a ~5x10 mobo?

The PS4 Slim has a motherboard about that size. Can't see XBSX needing more space for ram chips if the 16Gb rumour is true. Maybe more stepdown stuff due to higher SOC power requirements?

(XBoneX lost motherboard space to a tiny Master Chief riding a scorpion. Not quite sure what he'll be riding with the code name of Scarlett)

So who do we have left to trust on a possible 13 TF PS5, Klee, Jason, Tom?

Seriously, direct information from the console manufactures themselves. :yep2:
