Axel Impact

London Boy,
it might interest you that International release does/will support P-Scan - I've only been playing it that way lately since I stole a Trinitron from a co-worker :p (Korean might work with your Blaze too, but I didn't try that).

As for video captures, no matter how HQ they are things tend to look much clearer/better on a decent TV (or monitor).

Speaking of which,
mask, we're revising controls for international version so if you want to give input, now's your chance. :p

movie:
Looking great (cars too shiny though). But please tell me there's a way to turn that "music" off, my ears felt raped after listening to that tune.

I give you input if you FINALLY start to send me that long awaited demo!!! :devilish: :devilish: :devilish:

I like the lighting, cars look more solid than i thought. It could have been a killer PS2 graphics if it was released earlier..

ANYWAY, so the slowdowns are real... :?

That means I will have to buy one more copy that support P-Scan, Heh ! :D

Try some more with Free Run, selected X19 and selected max opponents, there are significant slow downs with the San Juan (short) course, it is really significant (it stutters) and together with the slower control response they make that course almost unplayable.

My comment on the control is mainly the relatively slow response comparing to other racers that I have (I have almost all released racers/simulations from RRV, Driving Emotion Type-S to the latest released racing games).

It sounds like it controls like Sega GT 2002, have you played it to compare?

I have to play GT2002 again tonight to see if there is any resemblence in the control.

I am uploading 2 movies (MPEG-2 full size), one is the gameplay at Red Devil City and one is the San Juan that shows the segment with the most serious stutter. Both are really really big, one is 65M and the other is 44M.

so.... leaving GT4 out, how does it compare to arcade games already out? Burnout2 etc.... good to hear about Pro-scan, although i'm pretty sure the korean version would still work with the Blaze adapter...
(games that support pro-scan in at least one territory work perfectly, even the versions that do not have the option, i assume this would be the same)

Forgot this, but +1 maskraider. Even though you i have our past pissmatches, but you be cool dude. Thanks for all those exclusive game captures.

NOW faf, WHERE MY TECH DEMO? Email brudder. :devilish:

LB,

I will try it with my BlazeVGA later tonight.

Here are the links to the 2 movies

Note: the usual limited connections still applies, the server may be busy, if so, please wait and try again later on

Red Devil City - one loop
http://media.felixmcli.org:90/axel/axel-rdc-pl.mpg

A section of San Juan with noticeable stutter
http://media.felixmcli.org:90/axel/sj-st-cut.mpg

Please don't laugh at my driving skill as I am not really a skillful driver, and I am still getting use to the slower response of the controls, and add the stutter it makes things worse.

I only have the GameCube version of Burnout 2, which the control response and the cars are crazily fast. Very arcadish.

I think I will play some racers tonight and compare the controls again to give more useful comment than just saying slower response.

yeah i dont know what u mean for slower response...........
i mean B2 is crazy fast, response or not....
would u consider GT3 to have "slower response"? just trying to find a common denominator...

Played many racers again tonight, huuuoooooo !

1. Driving Emotion Type-S (PS2)
2. Ridge Racer V (PS2)
3. GT3 A-Spec (PS2)
4. Shutokou Battle 0 (PS2)
5. Kaido Battle (PS2)
6. Shutokou Battle 01 (PS2)
7. Battle Gear 2 (PS2)
8. Touge 3 (PS2)
9. Wankan Midnight (PS2)
10. Initial D Special Stage (PS2)
11. APEX (X-BOX)
12. PGR (X-BOX)
13. Sega GT2002 (X-BOX)

The steering of Axel Impact is faster than Driving Emotion Type-S, a little slower than Sega GT2002. The control is certainly not as polish as GT3. And certainly not arcadish as the turning speed is pretty slow.

The acceleration/brake is pretty sluggish, sometimes it will miss the button press.

london-boy,

BlazeVGA adaptor doesn't work with Axel Impact without selecting any game settings in BlazeVGA CD.

P-Scan On/Scale On, the game stopped at the opening movie. And the screen only shows half of the image stretched to full screen.

P-Scan Off/Scale On, the game can start and get pass the opening movie, but you will only see half of the game screen stretched to full screen and the screen is flashing.

P-Scan On/Scale Off, the display seems normal, but cannot get pass the opening movie. And the screen is not very stable.

mask,
mind if I ask you more about controls? Would you prefer to see more oversteer in cars (making them easy to drift and faster turn) or more understeer/stability? (it's not that I am dealing with car handling, but the question has been on the platter recently).

Also in regards to Blaze compatibility - if there's an option to switch P-Scan on/off mid-game, you should try to do it "after" the movie plays (namely the movie playback that's in Korean version uses Sony's library code that requires interlaced scan to work - and hangs in P-Scan ).

Edit: almost forgot...

No worries, you can turn it off - and not all the tunes are that bad. The one in RedDevil city(aka Seoul) in particular is a completely local thing however - Koreans chanted that during World Cup all the time and well... you get the picture :p

Certainly don't mind. I prefer more oversteer in cars for a more arcadish feel.

But there is no way to change options after starting the game. As the boot sequence is like Action Replay, you put the BlazeCD to boot it up, set the options and replace the DVD with the game disc and start the game in VGA mode.

yep. and changing cable in mid game gives u some sizing issues. or at least thats what happened when i tried it with The Getaway, which also has a mid-game option to turn to pro-scan.
basically start the game normally, go to options, turn into pro-scan THEN change the cable...
it COULD work... :D
