(if someone already mentioned this, sorry)

as far as i know, and you, ati has yet not publicised any x1000 series driver for linux.

but we know that apple uses ati cards in theire machines....
and i heard that the apple system is based on unix... or some sort of it...

so..... hmm... do i see it right that this means ati would not have much problems porting this driver to linux?

your oppinions about this?

I don't think they are even remotely the same technologies.

ok... thanks.....
you mean the drivers or the operating systems?

maybe it comes down to the same.... but anyway

The OS's will be different and the drivers will be different as well. In addition, ATI releases a lot less cards for the Mac (where any PC card could theoretically be used with Linux). In addition, the Mac drivers are always rolled into the OS updates for Mac. Plus, the Mac OS uses the graphics drivers a lot more than Linux would (3D display and effects), and the pruning for Linux probably wouldn't be worht it.

Completely different kernel architecture and windows system. Of course there is some shared code but it's not the same driver.
