ASUS 9800XT 256MB for sale

Tahir said:
I found this on eBay (I am looking for a graphics card myself at the moment) and ASUS themselves (check e-mail address) are selling this monster for £269 on ebay.

Go to eBay UK and search for 9800 for the skinny.

Sure it's not a private seller who has just pinched the description from an Asus website?

That's not to say you can't buy direct from Asus - just I don't think they'd be selling on Ebay...

He has an ASUS UK e-mail address.

I aint vouching for the reliability of that item but offer closes on December 5th.

EDIT: The e-mail address is a asustek.org.uk which UK.ASUS.COM informs (cant find the link) is a fake.

How odd.

Ebay scam of some sort or another. If nothing else he's presenting himself as part of Asus when he isn't. This should be enough to make anyone steer clear.

empty frame that drops in ASUS' official dotcom site via URL, making the org.uk address look legit

can't remember just now but it had something weird like 258MB on the actual ad - would this provide some sort of legal loophole, or was it just done by someone who didn't know?
also, there was a section of the ad with bad grammar/spelling too that is not on the original - can't remember what it said, just that it looked odd

I found that at the uk.asus.com website.

This is very iffy - if you use a credit card you get a *lot* of protection. With this method of payment you have very little comeback if the vendor just takes your money and runs. You would have to chase them though the small claims court and Trading Standards, and they could just liquidate the company and move on.

Here they say they are just a Asus distributer, but elsewhere they claim to be Asus, despite Asus publicly disowning them. I'd say it's pretty iffy to do business with any company displaying this kind of inconsistency over Ebay.
