Assassin's Creed - New Interview

Yeah, I know that, but I was trying to say that there's about 50 or so citizens to be rescued in the game and 4-5 types of responses from them once you have helped them. That breaks immersion a little as the game tries to be realistic and makes those missions quite dull.

Well if you knew, you should have said that instead of saying "they all say the same thing", because when you say something like that it implies to me that you didn't know.

And the game is trying to be realistic? Go climb a 20 story building and jump into a haystack, tell me how that works out for you.

Nah, you can have a mini game with yourself at this point. Try to guess what they'll say before they say it! If you win, spoil yourself with a free cookie.

LOL.

In other words, it's a GAME.. stop taking it so seriously. Hell, whenever I climb a building, there's always that one guy who loudly advertises that he's not going to help me when I hurt myself. Annoying? Quite the contrary, in fact, I think it's kind of funny.

I'm interested in possibly picking this up for the PS3....

I take it the consensus here is that the game is rather problematic? Anyone have any experience on playing it on both the 360 AND PS3, and can compare performance?

ArsTechnica's review of the game specifically states that it runs considerably poorer on the PS3 compared to the 360.

Any reason you'd prefer the PS3 over 360 otherwise for this game?

I was inclined to pick up that version because Gamespot's review mentioned that the framerate was steadier (albeit in concert with a grainier look) on the PS3 version, but I didn't know whether to believe that was the case.

Also, I tend to shop for used games on Ebay to get decent discounts, and PS3 games--unpopular as they are in this country--tend to sell for lower prices than their 360 counterparts.

Just because you're being watched doesn't mean you have to slow to a snail's pace. I've trotted my horse right by alert guards and they simply watch me go by. The trick is just to be more careful not to do anything to attract attention.
Appreciated, I guess I'll need to learn to be less paranoid!!

I'm on memory block 2 and I've had one PS3 crash. A friend with a 360 is on memory block 5 and says he's had about half a dozen crashes - so whichever platform, there do appear to be issues. I've read speculation without any foundation that the 360 version isn't bugged like the PS3 version but the game pushes the 360 and is just aggravating the old RRoD issue but nobody appears to know definitively.

Ubisoft are patching the PS3 version (see this thread on their support forums -> http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5251069024/m/3361042116/p/1) and I would assume if the 360 is suffering the same problems, they'll also patch that as well.

I guess the sensible thing to do would be wait a while and see what transpires.

DS

I think the general consensus was Gamespot got confused. All other sites mention the 360 having a considerably better framerate, and IGN even posted comparison videos of it.

ArsTechnica posted their review just the other day:
http://arstechnica.com/reviews/games/assassins-creed-review.ars/4

While both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are more or less identical, it's surprising that the PS3 version does indeed suffer from some problems—surprising, given that the game was originally announced as a PS3 exclusive. While some may nitpick over rather small things, there's only one really noticeable problem, and that's the framerate. Even in relatively remote sections of the game, combat usually leads to some noticeable drops in framerate for the PS3 version, and this gets worse during the course of the more intense scenes of the game. While it may not be a deal-breaker, it's certainly a shame that Ubisoft couldn't make the versions completely identical, and as a result the Xbox 360 version will likely be the version of choice for anyone owning both consoles.

The curiosity got the better part of me and $110. So i bought this and brought it home, only had a little time to play around.

First and foremost, the "twist" sucks major ass, i could feel how the interest in the game just fell through the floor. I wish the reviews had made this "twist" clear at least i would have prepared. After the first disappointment had settled i found the game to be really nice looking and from the first steps interesting. I wont be powerplaying so maybe i wont run sour as fast as others...

Ohh and quite a HD installation or a really slow loading?, does this run on a 360´s without HD´s and if it does how does it perform?

A developer writing on their official forums confirmed Gamespot mixed up their versions. Every other source lists 360 as the best version. Get it for 360 for a less-headache inducing experience.

Since the cat is out of the ol' bag, I'll just go ahead and say that Gamespot mixed their platforms up. Dunno about contrast (PS3 games always seem more washed out to me), but from everything I know, the 360 runs better.

KnicksRIP: which country are you in? Depending on your exchange rate, Play-Asia have the region free Asian version for cheap, plus they have a $8-off coupon for orders over $50 at the moment... so if you're in the market, it may pay to shop around. I got this sent to me for half of what it is in Aussie stores at the moment, though I'm now going through the "wait for parcel" anxiety and missing out on the experience by a week or so :p

I finally finished the main game (side quests far from complete)

The near end and end parts of the game were frustrating because the enemies would take out 2 bars per hit and some do hits that are uncounterable, not to mention a 3 hit combo, so I lose health easily. And the fact that each bar takes an eternity to replenish wasnt helping when youre swarmed by a wave of armies several times

I cant help but feel that the very end of the game (not the assassinate part, but when you get back to the real world) feels like I saw it on an anime before. Cant really put my finger on it, but it looked familiar...

Other than that, im glad I bought the game. Sure theres quite alot of repetitiveness on it, but with that aside, theres alot of things good about it

just curious, how much does it install?
I think it's around 1.2-1.5GB. People are blathering how insane that is, but it pales in comparison to Oblivion's 4GB+ page file.

Just FYI, don't sit too close to the TV when you're playing this game. My controller's charge was dying just now, but I was determined to hit a save point, so I plugged it in and continued playing. But the USB cable is only 6' long, and the PS3 is right next to my TV. My forty-seven inch TV. So I sat about four feet away from the screen and played for about five minutes until I hit the View Point I was after. Truly immersive at such close range, but you get motion sick when he starts climbing buildings.. hehe.

Well finally finished the game. Story is very meh. I liked how the challenge ramped up at the end, up until the end part of the game I had only died twice and that was remedied :p. I'm still so very disappointed at the repetitiveness I was very much looking forward to this game. I still enjoyed the game it's the interactive environment that saves the game, getting from point A to point B has never been so much fun. And the fighting was good I only wish we had all the moves from the start. I don't regret buying the game but I also don't blame others if they consider the game a turkey.

Here's hoping now that they've got the groundwork laid for the game engine that the sequel will improve in varied missions. I don't care if they use the exact same cities for the sequel just give us more varied missions!

I´m curious, does this game even run on a HD less 360? And if, how does it run then.. seems almost impossible.

There's no texture pop-in. Although there is framerate hitching I don't know if that's due to streaming or a game engine quirk.
