Assassin's Creed - New Interview

I picked it up today. I haven't got very far as of yet played for about an hour, got through the tutorial and just getting used to the controls and movement. The shadow aliasing stands out a bit but mostly because everything else is so beautiful and smooth. I didn't find any overt tearing.
at first I thought there was tearing in the modern sequence in the lab but its really just the way the sequence is presented as glitchy

I'm pretty sure I'll get my money's worth out of this game as I enjoy just interacting in the environment/running around and enjoying the spectacular visuals.

It's been basically butter smooth for me on my 360 so far, I'm just about to complete the 9th asssassination.

I wouldn't call it unplayable. It's noticable and a bit annoying at times but they don't really occur when you need 100% attention like in swordfights or the like of it.

Mostly occurs when I start climbing a really high tower and start to synchronize, or when I run into WAY too many people.

If that's the sort of thing you're after, then you'll be very pleased. :) I just completed my third assassination, and I've been playing it for 10+ hours now. I like taking my time and wandering around, hitting all the view points, etc. My last assassination took me over three hours, from the time I was given the assignment to the time I actually completed it. And I enjoyed every second of it. :)

Talk about bad luck. Got to the last guy and my net went out, so I tried to sign back in but clicked on the wrong profile by accident which caused the game to auto quit back to the main screen :( So far, the final fight is much harder than anything I've faced in the game. Not "RAAM on Insane Solo" hard but quite a step from anything else you face.

I had to retry a couple of times on the several morphed guys, but the final enemy was much easier than I thought.

Little knives are terrible things to waste :D

if you ever get stuck, just exit the fight (on ps3 its L1) and run in circles till you regain health and also master the counter...if you could do the latter, then the end fight should be manageable

The Eurogamer reviewer is actually answering just about any fair question on the review and stuff left out of it that's thrown at him (Mugwum) in the comments section. Might be interesting to some of you wondering about the 7/10 (which isn't a bad score at Eurogamer, which people often forget). He keeps answering questions, quite a few (at least 10), its impressive :D

Yap ! The freezing hit me when I was trying to stop some on-going fight 20-30 minutes into the game. After about 15 seconds, I regained control.

I love the detailed castle environment. Will still play it and wait for them to patch the problems out (instead of returning it like you did). Meanwhile, I have also started Eye of Judgment (and fooled around with "Operation: Creature Feature" :) ).

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, with Mass Effect, it'll be a bit before I came back and finish this up along with some city quests for achievements.

Finally got to play it earlier.
The intro sequence of the game is a definite no-no for people with seizure problems

Other than that im having a blast. Controls can be a bit confusing when alot of ish is going on at times (panicking ftl  ) but theres alot of cool things to do in the game.

Im used to hack and slash games, so that obviously didnt work on this game. Im starting to get used to being defensive and countering instead, but every now and then I cant help but try and slash my way through opponents which ends up failing btw

Do not touch that link until you finish the game! *bookmark and mindwipe*

My (Asian) copy of the game finally shipped, so I should be playing next week. I actually think I'll make this my last purchase of the year... there's so much to close out, I'm sure some of my other desired titles can wait till they drop in price - or of course the drought.

Interesting story last night. My cousin had a thanksgiving/birthday party and alot of relatives and friends came over. Me and my God knows how many nephews(who were all h4rdc0r3 Halo players mind you) were planning on playing 8 player Halo 3 MP the whole day, but while waiting I decided to plop in AC to show them and guess what? they all pretty much spent the whole day playing Assassin's

They only played about 2-3 hours of Halo, and around 9-10hrs of this game. Lets just say that by the end of the night, I've gotten everyone in the room hooked to this game.

Thank me for the free advertisement Jade ;)

I'm having problems with the game. I just finished that part where you dump all those logs on the Templar army. Now, I'm in that cut scene where the girl and the doctor go into the conference room. They finally come out and tell me to go to my room. What the hell am I supposed to do now? What an incredibly efficient way to break the game play and ruin the immersion.

This game sucks in my opinion. The combat is repetitive at best and down right frustrating at worst. Then they kick you completely out of the action into that damn laboratory cut scene. I'm trading it in as soon as the post-Thanksgiving shopping crowds thin out.

I think it was the bathroom. In the bathroom there is a vent and you just need to push any button to interact. The screen will tell you when you get near the vent.

I'm pretty early in the game myself and thus far, the sci-fi angle just isn't working for me. Although little of the 'modern world' story has been revealed to me, I would be happy for this aspect to be removed entirely along with the 'glitching' in Altair's world. Yeah, I know Altair's missions are part of a larger story but I would be entirely happy just being Altair doing his assassination missions and just immersing myself in the otherwise fantastic atmosphere that the game is capable of creating.

I'm also struggling to find the "exciting combat" (-Gamespot), other reviews also compliment the combat mechanics and although I know that I'm very early in the game and that you learn or earn more counter moves and abilities later, right now combat feels clumsy and unintuitive. I've hacked thousands to death in Ninja Gaiden Sigma and slain tens of thousands in Heavenly Sword, I can deal with involved combat systems but AC's feels like unrewarding, hard work.

I'll persevere, I sure hope it gets better.
