Assassin's Creed - New Interview

Shame, I blame consoles with internet connections and HDDs, if this game was released on PS2 it would've been heavily big tested and had all these bugs fixed before it was shipped.

A double edged sword, perhaps. On one hand you may have a point. Yet implicitly online connectivity gives the great advantage of more easily distributing software updates in case something really does need fixing.

I never owned that on PS2.

I have experienced crashes on PS2, but they have all been when I was using some cheat disk and I enabled something the game didn't like. When I played as nature intended I don't recall any game crashing.

I read comment "Imagine how great Zelda would look on a next gen console"

Just a head up,Best Buy Canada has a special on right now. You can get COD4 and AC for $89.99.
So the big question for me is how are the controls. Are they intuitive right away?If not do they settle in and work well? I remember reading about them at one point and they sounded overly complicated. Clunky controls are a deal breaker for me no matter how good the game is otherwise.

I do seem to be getting a lot of lockups today. So how does patching work for the PS3 on games that do not have MP? Hope they fix this soon. Seems this issue should have been caught already.

The controls are actually spot on. The jumping/action sequences and combat is very fluid.

Oh darnit, I think Amazon.com sold out on the Limited Edition before they got the chance to ship out my copy. Sucks because I preordered to avoid such an occurance. I'm just waiting for that 'this order isn't available' email.
You have to be kidding me. Many games were crashing on PS2 (Jak 2 was the worst offender).
I played that game to death. It never crashed on me. I only had two PS2 games crash on me each once, Maximo and Deus Ex(a notorious bad port job, the developers had a very hard time programming for the PS2).

It crashed on me over 5 times throughout entire game. It's my console all time record, the second game that would get this ignoble title would be Star Wars KotOR on XBox. I've never had a crash on 360 OTOH*, so I don't think this generation of console is worse than the last one.
As for Assassin's Creed, I'm so hyped about this games after my friends' impressions - they all like it very much and say it deserves a 9/10. Too bad I won't play it for the couple of weeks.

*in fact, my 360 did freeze once or twice in dashboard, but I don't think it counts.

I can confirm the crashing part on the PS3... It locked up on me twice, and the console rebooted...
I'm just glad it's a game problem and not the hardware... I hope a patch is comming for it.
Other than that, the game is fun, but nothing incredible so far. I think that it's reaching the point of being to flashy without any substance. Impressive, but shallow.
At least I like the story, wich is the reason I keep playing.

Going to play this game tonight together with Uncharted. I'll see who holds my attention more. ;-)

I think I'll like both.

I played through Jak and Daxter, Jak 2, and Jak 3 all twice and they never crashed once. Of my 50 something PS2 games the only game to ever crash on me was Wipeout Fusion (or whatever the PS2 wipeout was called). But that was a known problem with that game. I think your PS2 has major problems, or I am just very lucky.

How many total assassination missions are there? I'm on number 5 I believe. I gave up trying to be a nice guy. Anyone who begs for money or bumps into or looks at me funny = dead. Including any shit talking guards. Bring it! Btw, once you get used to it, turning off the HUD gives a very cinematic apperance to the game. Unfortunately, I can't live with the GPS but keep the health/weapon/button bars gives the game a very clean look. Beautiful game btw.

I agree 100%. Unfortunately, others don't (and the reasoning is rather specious):

specist? or suspicious? Did you read the sentence I highlighted and agreed to? The sentence I highlighted was the choice between minimal tearing and dropping to 20fps. I'd pick tearing over that.

Plus you have to remember that the majority of gamers do not notice tearing, or just see it as a natural console fault...especially when it's minimal (i don't know how bad it is in AC)...what they do see are the graphics, and the more impressive the better.

Bought the game and started playing yesterday but for some reason it seemed to crash my 360..

Now today I've tried it a few times & it seems to crash after playing in-game for any longer than 5 mins.. The crashes have even carried over to when playing other games..

is not the game crashing the 360...

When I see screenshot of this game, I really think bethesda got some stuff wrong with oblivion

I don't think it's very comparable. Oblivion has much larger environments than AC, but regarding graphics i think Oblivion is still a tad better than AC, from an overall impressions pov.
