Assassin's Creed - New Interview

I'd think this game would be very well suited to the gamepad, more so than mouse and keyboard. I think other than your limited throwing knives, it's entirely platforming and melee combat.

Sweet. I havent read any reviews, didnt want to spoil anything. Thought it would be more like Drakes Fortune, gameplay wise.

Bummer all around. Between CoD4, AC and Uncharted we have (hopefully) one winner, one "also ran" and a stinker :( (ps3 perspective at least...maybe time for an xb360 elite?) :)

I'd call CoD4 the also-ran as it's basically as good as xb360 with some lower textures (boo) and AC the stinker since IGN claims the last third is basically unplayable (slideshow). I'm really hoping Uncharted is as good as it's looking.

"These big open worlds, which are fully interactive, do come at a severe cost on PS3. There is considerable texture pop-in and noticeable framerate issues. Playing back-to-back with the 360 version, it's obvious that Ubisoft did not devote enough resources to the PS3 edition. The framerate is considerably worse, so much so that it begins to affect gameplay in the later levels. You can get through the first two-thirds of Assassin with the framerate being just an annoyance, but it becomes more of an issue for the final third of the missions.'

Dang it. I really wanted this game. Framerates is a real dealbreaker for me.

Slightly off topic but whenever I see a multiplatform review on IGN, it's almost always signed by Hilary. (AC, CoD4, skate, Dirt, many sports games, from top of my head).

She is hardworking I guess.

There is still quiet other anticipated games coming this year ;)

MA, DMC mainly ;)

On topic, i'm sad that this game under delivers...
The historical background mix with huge environment were really attractive to me, sa far the game is just good :(

Hmmm so I will go for the 360 instead of the PS3 version.

Did Ubisoft already released a multiplatform game on the PS3 that didn't have any issues ?

1up has given it a 7 also. (Apparently also with spoilers)

I had very high hopes for this game, and while it still sounds decent-ish, it doesn't sound like the unmissable experience I figured it might be.

IGN and GS reviews will be interesting. 1up figured opinion would be very split on the game, but so far most reviewers seem to be erring on the side of 7s, for want of a better phrase.

IGN 360: 7.7/10
IGN PS3: 7.5/10

there are framerate and pop-in issues on both versions, the framerate is just worse on PS3. but if the framerate is as bad as IGN says it is, then you're better off with the 360 version. but the game (while still good) doesn't seem to be as good as everyone thought anyway.

So the last third being a slideshow knocks 0.2 off your score...heh...guess they figure most people won't get that far before popping something else in :)

It's disappointing because it had almost two solid years of hype. Everyone telling everyone how great it was going to be.

The score isn't a problem in itself, more they were expecting much more and UBI haven't delivered.

And it's not so much the reviewers hyping it, it was almost every week UNI rolled out whatshername to people to ogle telling us how "brilliant" the game is, how the AI is "so complicated" and NPCs would chase you around (when in fact you can kill people right in front of a guard and he does diddlesquat about it)

Promised much, delivered little, hence huge feelings of disappointment from numerous reviewers.

Gamespot Review 9.0

There are few differences between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. PS3 owners are blessed with a slightly more solid frame rate, although the 360 version features a little more contrast in the lighting, so it's pretty much a wash. But regardless of which platform you go with, you'll have an amazing and unforgettable game. Assassin's Creed is the kind of game you tell your friends about, and one that should be in your collection.

I'm soooo confused

Depends who you want to listen too I guess...

Gamespot just gave it a 9/10.

The Good
  • Huge, gorgeous world that feels wholly alive
  • Fluid controls make it fun to run across city rooftops
  • Joyous mix of stealth, action, and platforming
  • Stunning sound design features fantastic voice acting and a beautiful musical score
  • Tons of small details will constantly amaze you.
The Bad
  • Confusing ending
  • A few small visual glitches

Personally, I've been much more in line with Game Trailers, Game Informer, and Gamespot in the last couple years, than IGN, 1UP or even Eurogamer, and with GT, GI and GS all raving about the game, I'm pretty confident it will be an awesome game...

Hmm Strange Gamespots review is saying that Ps3 version having the upper hand on framerate issue.

Who to Trust Ign or Gamespot.
