Assassin's Creed - New Interview

So you resort to personal attacks, very mature.

Linking to the inq has been done here at B3D for ages...

I'm just intrested in why the PS3 has performed so badly in multiplatform games and why people still write stuff like "I've heard it has crisper textures" and other BS all the time.

COD4 at 60fps waves hello. We know why multiplatform devs have struggled with the ps3. And saying the ps3 has half the memory for textures being the reason (when it's not true in any sense) is misinformed, and borderline trolling.

However it was possible to see a few meters away both versions, Playstation 3 and Xbox360, which offer some comparative photos. The end result, according to the developers, is essentially identical, with the impression from absolutely confirm that the console Sony has a slightly higher cleanliness at the expense of an equally marked little aliasing.

By the way, if true, couldn't this be just a consequence of less intesive/extensive post processing on the PS3 version rather than better texture/filtering and less/no antialiasing?

Could be better lighting in the PS3 version. Could be a number of things...let's wait and see.

Isn't one of the memory areas extremely slow to read /write from?
Which makes it unusable for storing textures which you need very fast access to?

This was what I meant, the Cells read/write bandwidth to the local memory is horrible.

This article is irrelevant to your point, and since RSX can output to XDR, irrelevant overall. You made the claim that PS3 has half the available RAM for textures and this is patently false. When after being corrected, you resorted to the inquirer article to prove your point(which it doesn't). So quite frankly, you're the one arguing from pure ideology and zero fact.

It is true that overall the PS3 has less available memory due to OS reservations. I think the figure is currently pegged at 84MB vs. 32MB on the 360. The difference is expected to come down with future system updates.

Back to the game, this article has some interesting (if not off the wall) thoughts on the twist in the AC plot.
http://www.ripten.com/2007/11/07/assassins-creed-sci-fi-twist-should-we-give-a-monkeys/

"The game promises to contain historically accurate cities and a completely interactive environments. You will be able to climb any building you fancy, buildings complete with historically, accurately, coloredly bricks. You are but an archaic Spider-Man (minus the red and blue tights) making your way through the city dressed in an assassin’s hawk outfit.

Yet, there is something on top of all this “gloriousness” that Ubisoft Montreal has kept swept under their grandmother’s carpet: a “sci-fi” twist that is suggested in the game footage, but should we give a monkey’s (or a rat’s ass as you American’s like to say) about the twist, and could it potentially spoil the game’s integrity?"

They basically say that yes it could spoil it...good read.

From music to voice work to ambient sound effects, the aural component only deepens the involvement

Meh, 1up is all over the map, really I could care less what they or EGM say (since they always seem to be in lockstep) their reviews are just so inconsistant they're almost worthless. Not to mention, they're generally 4-5 paragraphs...

I think the game is looking good and its possibly going to be great.
Anyone knows if this game was actualy made with ps3 hardware in mind ?

skip(1up) over at neogaf is surprised at the score. 1up review will be interesting

The way the one up guys have been trashing the game in a snide, asinine way, both on forums and their podcast, I'm not going to trust their review at all. They seem to just have it out for the game. I'll expect it to get an 8-ish score from 1up. So I'll be looking more at IGN and Gamespot's reviews.

And since IGN seems a bit prone to overrating next gen games lately, probably a bit more on the Gamespot side.
