To commemorate the Netherlands reaching the Finals of the World Cup 2010 (with 15 minutes to go and 1-3 ahead I think that is a safe assumption) here are five screenshots.
The game is as unstable as can be.. it does CTD when you try to assign the S or numeric + and - key in the keybindingds screen (I tried this a handful of times only to get more and more frustrated.)
Screenshots are @1920x1200, all settings High/Advanced (highest settings) except for V-Sync (off) and MSAA (off) AF16x
I think the Radar is not being portrayed in the right way in these screenshots, there's a blue on black radar fuzz I can't see in these shots.
Oh. .it actually looks a lot worse, I used ATI Tray Tools but it's leaving out a lot of effects&textures.

I want to play.. gameplay feels slower than BC2 (soldiers are heavier, jumps are lower, weapons feel way more powerful) and there's a MC2 kind of reward system that gives you a badge every time you fart during a mission or look in the general direction of an enemy.

Ah.. Left ATT on PNG. .but still 1600x1000 @8MB? tinypic does NOT make sense!

Just wait until you get a Titan or similar class ship. I tell you the first thing I did when I got enough money to buy a Titan AND arm it was to take it to a pirate infested sector to test it out. 30-40 pirate ships in 2 waves wher wipped out. IIRC the Titan + systems and weapons cost me about 87m.

Those pics above your post are 1680x1050, 4xAA, 16xAF, max settings, draw distance 5000km (there is a bug where SSAO gets disabled when restarting game so it might have been off).
Right now I have settled for same settings as above with 2xAA but with config modification to at 5000km allow 'very high' terrain detail setting which is otherwise limited to high at over 3.75km. Runs quite well though it needs patching as LOD swapping, mip selection and other rendering related stuff is quite borked. They say they will implement the rest of optimisations that didn't get in previous official patch into next patch (the great optimisations that got into Arma 2 patch 1.07).
Anyway is on my 4890 1GB, E8400@3.6GHz, 8GB RAM, Vista x64.
Additional mods I now got (after I took the shots) is ACE v1.5 beta for OA and the below 3 that are for OA and lets vehicles and statics be visible at further than 2.5km distance.

I really need to patch Arma (have only ran in vanilla so far.)
Some graphics bugs are plain weird. I have a savegame which turns everything into a blur after 5 seconds but your shots are miles better than what I can cook up with in vanilla.

Yeah I meant meters becouse atleast OA engine crashes with max and forced beyond 10km view distance despite engine supporting 50km (I had 20km with extreme draw distance for objects with 10k's trees etc in first Arma but never took screenshots of it in that state!). I assume it is becouse game needs the next patch to utilise more than 2GB RAM.
My shots is jsut how the game looks. Though Arrowhead is so damn bright by default on my monitor I have game menu gamma set to 0.5 and brightness at default 1. Game also needs contrast slider thoughuse Powerstrip to force contrast value or try graphic card control panel color profile menu. Rest is max with 2xAA, native res of 1680x1050 or my monitor. Make sure to whenever you launch Arrowhead go into graphics menu and just esc out of it to make the SSAO enable itself (bug). My ATI CCC has 16xAF though I assume games AF setting overrides it though same value, then TSAA on quality, the rest on quality/highest setting.
Arma 2 should look about or nearly as good. I actually ordered Arma 2 today to go with the Arrowhead expansion I bought some day ago. Seen nice mod list for it which also includes ACE. :smile:
Got my Arma 2 in the mail. I installed Arma 2 then reinstalled OA ontop of it to make it Arma 2 'Combined Operations' so they merge. The tech improvements in OA expansion certainly enhances Arma 2 visuals with the SSAO and better sahders though Arma 2 alone was top notch to.
Arma 2 looks absolutely breathtaking and though it has some few rough things it also excels in others and I would dare to say it is the only challenger to Crysis. From top notch HDR, shading, very extensive use of POM, realtime global shadow system, 24h lighting, dynamic DOF, motionblur, superb 3D, full destructibility, interactive grass etc, and borderline insane polygon detail on weapons, vehicles and much much more. Heck IMO the tree detail is so big it dwarfes Crysis trees, the insane polygon amount per tree, vegetation layers and that they are 3D even 3-5km away (though LODed down but still they aint sprites!). Wouldn't mind sprites for far distant trees to get a perfomance boost!
Then count in the tremendous complex gameplay functions and it sure is a beast. Love the games, Arma 2 and the expansion Arrowhead.

Well, thanks a bunch. I did my very best to avoid buying new games for a while but after seeing those screenies I found myself with a reciept for ARMA2 OA. I await it's delivery anxiously.
BTW if anyone wants this game and is in the UK, play.com has it for much cheaper than Steam.
