Hi Sobek. You know I was going to check my perfomance in Warhead with SSAA but got same problem as you. However Crysis and Crysis Wars has no problem with SSAA by console prompt.

That's odd. You know, I never thought to try Warhead... I don't know why, but I'll try it tonight anyway just to see.

Got the Cat 10.5, GPU scaling with fit to screen option enabled. Maybe for Warhead you might try the Tommti Systems SSAA tool as I heared it might work with Warhead in DX10.

So we're pretty much running the same settings I guess. I'm afraid I can't use that SSAA tool - I'm one of those evil bastards still running XP.

To take super res shots use the e_screenshot 2 feature and set e_Screenshot_width etc to desired value aswell as quality to 100 and PNG type but this only makes a super res screenshot by tiling.

Interesting. So this works fine for you ingame? I've found that if I take tiled screenshots while playing normally, they come out all distorted (common problem I've seen all over the net), but if taken from within the editor, they come out just fine. *edit* Hang on, e_screenshot 2? 2's for 'panoramic' or something right? Does that actually work properly, instead of the broken looking e_screenshot 1? I just read somewhere else that apparently doing e_screenshot 2, THEN e_screenshot 1 will give you an unbroken image.. As if doing '2' first kinda resets where the tiled shots are taken from (because, you know, the broken tiled images simply look like the game did it right but put the individual shots back together in the wrong order). I'll definitely have a play with this tonight too!

The funny thing is, I do recall using that tiled screenshot command ingame just after release, though that would have been with version 1.0 of the game. Wierd.

Sorry for turning the thread into a Crysis discussion :p

Crysis is certainly relevant in a thread about screenshots.

Besides I don't think many folks visit due to the bandwidth requirements.

Same settings as previously (Shift). Since these are my last Shift screenshots for some time I'll end the series with a light bandwitdh "rape". :p

X3: Terran Conflict

Uh oh, I've picked up X again...

I caught a glimpse of the Terrans' beautiful Osaka class carrier in the Venus sector, had to take some shots. I will own one of these.... when I earn the 100M+ credits it takes to buy one and keep it running. =)

From a distance (on the left). That is a super huge gigantic enormous Terran station on the right.

Coming up on it

Approaching its belly

It is a very long ship (~2.3km)

The hangar bay with a nice reflection of Venus

It flies off into the blackness

Sense of scale is sometimes hard to determine in this game without a point of reference; nothing like flying around a 30km+ station in your scout fighter to make you feel small and insignificant. =D

You just woken up my desire to play X2 some more and then switch to X3!
That was my initial grand plan anyway before The Witcher came ...

Sweet pics all of you!

Wow ! ZTHe NFS:SHIFT screens are absolutely gorgeous ! I had tried the demo, liked it too, but apparently forgot about the game due to the overwhelmeing no. of games that are released these days and also my new work takes up 90% of my day !
I seriously need to get this, I need something other than Crysis to ogle at :D !

Just pop-in my mods for Shift!

nice draw distance! look at the vegetation on the road uphill in that third shot.. Man.. I sometimes hate myself for playing Console ports.

Yeah it's great and I was wrong to say max settings. I didn't think about it but I got draw distance for detailed terrain set to 3,7km and max in menu is 10km!

Thanks.. I'm being a bit frugal here so I'll just buy the original Arma2 on Steam since that is still on sale, €30 for an expansion for a game I don't know yet.. that's a bit too steep.

It's great game. Be sure to check this mod page for Arma 2.

EDIT: I had all the official patches installed + beta patch that comes with great optimisations especially for my 64bit system/OS. Stupid me didn't read the readme so I never ran with beta optimisations becouse I need to re-link shortcut to beta patch exe! dooh!

Some more screenshots. 1440x900 with realtime SSAA (1920x1200, 2xMSAA/TSAA), 16xAF, max settings bar terrain detail draw distance of 3km.

So you say you run with 3K view distance?

I've been re-reading the [H] HD5850/70 review from way back when and they talk about 1K to 1.6K.
I can only assume it's been thoroughly updated over time? Do the Beta patches work on the Steam version btw?

Well Arrowhead has parts of the latest optimisations from Arma 2 official patch. Though there where some tweaks left out due to lack of time which are in beta that according to readme works with Steam (beta plugin is like a mod, easy to install easy to remove). Just make sure to run it from the newly created beta shortcut in games folder.

About draw distance I barely have any perfomance difference going from ~900 to 3000m. Real perfomance killers are MSAA + higher settings on post processing and also SSAA. That review must have run some strange version or something becosue not even the Arma 2 demo ran bad with 3km and very high settings. Also love how you can see lots of lights kilometers away, makes night missions amazing seeing an APC 1-2km away lit up with its lights! ^^

Though reminds me that first OP had 900m max and with expansion it allowed 5km.. so beathiful it was but what a perfomance killer back in 2001/2002!
