Not a big fan of the bloom effect in that game. If it were me (i.e. if my computer had a hope in hell of playing that game), I'd turn on everything except the bloom.

Nah the game doesn't have overly strong HDr (Crysis doesn't do bloom), it is just that this custom map had already high settigns and with my HDRLevel set to 1.6 it just got far more than what the creator intended. They still look incredible nonethless.

So r_HDRLevel from default 0.6 to X where X is what you like. r_HDRBrightOffset to make it less powerful and less colorful.

Obviously my settings where for the default game which can be seen in my sig (my Crysis cryboy ( ) ss. And also it depends on how strong the sun is shining and eye adation state.

BTW you want a small ss set with different HDRLevel settings of same map? :)

Maybe I should stick with the console boards, because I haven't the foggiest what you said just there.. LOL. ;)

Nah, seriously, I do see what you're saying, I think. That your PC's default HDR level is higher than what the map was originally created with, hence the "blow-out".

Sure.. hehe. :)

It irks me only because I can't play it, and don't have the money to upgrade at the moment. Even so, an upgrade right now probably wouldn't cut it anyway.. better wait a year or so, then I can buy top-of-the-line stuff that should (in theory) run it at max with no problems.

You know I run it on all high only with the HDr settings value tweak which doesn't affect perfomance. Runs great and fluid on a 8800GTX. But I'lL recommend to wait and see the new 9800 series and what it offers for the same money as a 8800GT.

3 sets, first one of the custom homemade level and teh other 2 sets from default Crysis sp levels. Last ss isme getting it on with some poor guys (lol)!

Ouch that excessive bloom is a real eyesore. But hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder..

Nah it is really overshiny, to much for me but the custom map was named dreamexperiment and is supposed to be exagerrated (it's not my map).!

That last series is great.. couple of pretty pictures, a little blood on the screen, then complete mayhem.. hehe.

Thanks for the pics. :)

All levels are not equal in graphics IQ/design/art in BF2, but if you play with 16xAF, 4xAA, and high resolution then you come close and with edits to the lighting it even may look better on some levels ( fog pushed back to ~1KM etc).

Now maybe I am to harsh and the game may look better but IMO not compared to the ss above. Granted CD4 has more realtime shadows.

Well I play both games regularly at the same settings (4xAA, 16xAF, 1920x1200). BF2 is a great looking game for it's time, and has it's work cut out due to the larger maps.

Does your system struggle to play COD4 at higher settings? Maybe that's the problem.

I think you should provide a couple of screenies of your BF2 that look as good as those COD4 shots. :)

I sworn not to instal lthat game again becouse I was feed up with the bugs and monkeys. Bugs like china plane aa missiles vs US planes, ridicolous. And monkeys having a habbit of snipping out pilots to steal teh plane or ram with jeep on your tank/plane/whatever giving you a kick/temp ban.

I'll put my comp on hold until I take some ss.... when I find my mod disc!

Yeah it is mainly only characters that cast dynamic shadows with self shadowing. There is though a decent amount of dynamic lightsources in the game, especailly when tweaked. Still the nice shading makes it up quite good.

I really like VWD mod which makes buildings and stuff visible across the whole landscape and not only in loaded cells. Amazing to see how good it runs to with it after reading other users coments about perfomance on this mod. Quite a feat my sec PC with a Opteron 165 a 7900GT is cappable of running with the same settings at 1280*1024 at ~same or better framerate than the console version. And the setting tweaks i have could be considered ultra extreme! Built it from reading forum posts and tweak guides! :devilish:

My G80 stomps the game and I would pack in even more although i think I got it all and the VRAM usage is around 800-900MB+.

Dang I was not aware of the polygon count by all the mods and tweaks I had enabled. Especially with VWD distant building and land objects mod (makes all buildings and such visible for ~10KM distance).

3.8 million polygons easily per frame outside... what a difference from the original 300-500k polygon amount!

No wonder with all the parallax and huge amount of grass etc my CPU was struggeling aswell as my GPU with ~25fps! 1GB+ VRAM usage!

Maybe I'll scale back on some 2048*2048 lightmaps, 1024*1024 lightmaps should do good for the 2048*2048 textures.

Command and Conquer 3 screenshots, I was playing with the map settings creating a evening and night version of some of the maps!

Settlers 6, a beathiful game that still looks amazingly detailed with fully zoomed in camera. Lots of nice textures lots of shadows and self-shadowing and diverse detail. Now the screenshots will look blurrier than what they are since I had to violently compress them down to quality 35 when I otherwise post quality 75 jpeg ss. 4.56MB total for all 21 images for those wanting to poke on me with a stick!

Also the game does not use LOD which makes everything look as detailed zoomed out as zoomed in, crazy stuff I say.

I had to disable the 4xAA and transparency AA becouse otherwise the built-in screenshot function would only give me black screenshots.
