GI applies to (depending if changed to) all lightsources except the sun. You see if the sun had radiosity it would take seconds to render a frame! :smile:

Picked up my copy of STALKER today!

First thing I did was load up all the mods :D

Man does this game look amazing with the right mods!!! Probably the second best looking game I have ever played (after Crysis).

Difference is, this runs well on my rig!

Impressed with the large amount of good Oblivion mods and texture packs. Got some new and updated my game, started to play it since I never finished it.

Very nice but .... the shadows system in Oblivion is very limited , very unreal in many points - buldings etc . But the game is impresive ;)

Yeah it is mainly only characters that cast dynamic shadows with self shadowing.There is though a decent amount of dynamic lightsources in the game, especailly when tweaked. Still the nice shading makes it up quite good.

I really liek VWD mod which makes buildings and stuff visible across the whole landscape and not only in loaded cells. Amazing to see how good it runs to with it after reading other users coments about perfomance on this mod. Quite a feat my sec PC with a Opteron 165 a 7900GT is cappable of running with the same settings at 1280*1024 at ~same or better framerate than the console version. And the setting tweaks i have could be considered ultra extreme! Built it from reading forum posts and tweak guides! :devilish:

My G80 stomps the game and I would pack in even more although i think I got it all and the VRAM usage is around 800-900MB+.

I am amazed how close BF2 looks to this (granted it has more pre-baked shadows) and even better in some maps, especially with some tweaks to the lighting in the editor. Sure I played the demo and found it to look average graphically but still, the shadow res, the textures, the detail... yuuk! :cry:
 
I love BF2 probably more than is healthy, but I don't get how you can say the graphics approach COD4 fidelity. It's not even close IMO.

All levels are not equal in graphics IQ/design/art in BF2, but if you play with 16xAF, 4xAA, and high resolution then you come close and with edits to the lighting it even may look better on some levels ( fog pushed back to ~1KM etc).

Now maybe I am to harsh and the game may look better but IMO not compared to the ss above. Granted CD4 has more realtime shadows.
 
Tooksome ss of custom map I downloaded, dunno why I got strange borders when taking the ss with printscreen (I cut em off).

Neverthless high settings for all and hdrlevel 1.6 and offset 18.

Not a big fan of the bloom effect in that game. If it were me (i.e. if my computer had a hope in hell of playing that game), I'd turn on everything except the bloom.
