Anything about the Launch of the GF FX?

I think NDAs are common when reviewing final hardware to ensure that all the different reviews show up at more or less the same time. Otherwise, there's a mad rush to be the first to get one up once the first review boards go out, and there's an unfair advantage to the sites that happen to get their boards first, or that post crappy, hastily written reviews. You'd probably want to give each site several days to play around with the board and write a decent review.

So that means if no one is under NDA yet for the final GFFX samples, it's unlikely we're going to see any reviews this month. Also, given the rush Nvidia is certainly in to ship this product, they're probably going to want to send the review samples as soon as they have stable and well-performing hardware and drivers. Since there's a big difference between sending out a few working samples and shipping in mass quantities to retailers, there will probably be a few weeks gap between the appearance of the first reviews and the availability of the retail product.

Assuming the first reviews appear in early to mid-Feb., the March 9 date listed by BFG for its GFFX pre-order sounds like it will be around the earliest you can expect to get one. The early Feb. date listed by PNY doesn't sound very realistic.

thanks for the info graphix,

Id still like to see in detail what a general nda looks like. just curious.

The NDA was up November 18th 2002

So why the hell have the coupple sites and developers that have the cards NOT posted any benchmarks yet? I mean come on. I thought for sure that Tom, anand at least have cards by now.

In fact.. It was astated earlier that a few sites and developers had gotten cards.

Huh....spill the beans...

Looks like Wavey has been overlooked again....not even knowing NDA information.

I wonder if NV could postpone/delay the launch enough to just release the nv35. now that would be hilarious. :)

i'm pretty sure they have a card already, since even the Institute of Computer Graphics of my university got a sample. (no... they didnt show it, he just said that one arrived)

So, just why haven't we seen any benchmarks to speak of, IF review sites have the cards AND the NDA is over? Makes absolutely no sense, as most of these site would kill for 15 more hits.......

Really?! Who has it?
Seems it's about time to pay Prof. Purgathofer a visit... ;)

Nvidia will make people who buy the card sign an NDA as well. They don't ever want the benchmarks released.

There are no problems with NV30 chip or its drivers.
Its just that NV driver team has been unable to tackle this problem ...

Anyway, the retail boards are coming of the production line now

:)

Is the production line on Mars, or something? If so it might explain why it takes so long to get to the store shelves...
