Anyone seen the new Wreckless 2 for Xbox?

Yeah that looks amazing, just like the original... still does. You know it's disapointing when a launch title still looks good went compared to a current title. :?

*shrugs*

Depends on how you want to twist it. Observe:

1) I'd rather the first games I buy for the platform not be an eyesore later on.
2) I'd rather see better and better looking games the longer the platform exists.

Out of the two it would be - 2) I'd rather see better and better looking games the longer the platform exists.

All I was saying is it is a little dispointment that alot of developers on xbox still don't have titles that are equal with some of the earliest works on the system. Wreckless is a great example of this, alot of dev teams would have to push quite hard to get games looking this good even today.

Oh dear god they made another one :?

And it looks just as blurry and crap as the first one.

"Hay guys, the more effects we pile on the better it will look, right?"
"Sure! Why, we only used 35% of the nvidia sample book in the first one, so lets aim for at least 80% this time."

*high-five*

It seems to pile on a bit too heavily with the effects. Bloom is just over the top, the extreme high-contrast lighting could easily lead to visible banding in dark areas (of which there seems to be plenty). And there's an enormous amount of photoshop blur/AA added to all these images. Makes it hard to say what it REALLY looks like.

It does look pretty nice, overdone but still nice nonetheless, and let's not get into the ethic of a cut&paste job from Nvidia's "Make a pretty game in 5 minutes" bestselling manual.... the real question here is, will anyone bother to play it?

I think the game gets unfairly knocked about for being a cut-and-paste job of reference effects code since it seems that the programmer accused of the cutting-and-pasting was actually the one who wrote the reference code.

Phat

To be fair, the game gets knocked about for being a cut&paste job and for being a crap game. Especially. The 2 together mean that they never cared about making a game, they only wanted to show the Xbox graphics off.

If the game was good, no one would bitch so much. As it is, it's just weird to see some games being released, since the "game" part of the... game... is wafer thin.

Love their signature cinematic photorealism; the PS2 and GC ports showed that the graphics look rather generic with less of those effects. The feats of the Wreckless 1 engine on Xbox still outshine most big budget, highly staffed, long developed, late generation games releasing years later:
