AMD: R9xx Speculation

I thought we already knew it would launch next week ever since neliz said it would launch REALLY close to GTX 570?

I'm still hoping for Monday ;)

Not on the same day mind you. All I know is the boards are ready, the wait is for other factors.

Plus, 217W seems rather high. I'd expect Cayman Pro to have a TDP of 188W, just like the HD 5870. That would fit nicely into AMD's lineup, and be rather convenient for OEMs looking to replace Cypress in their machines.

The 217 looks like the 6850's 127 rearranged :D

What about that 1GB? The previous (official) slide mentioned 2GB for both HD6950/6970. Either this slide is wrong even in this aspect, or Dave performed another saving operation...

Or they will be available in both 1GB and 2GB configurations.

6950 X score is good against the 480, P score is good against the 5970... weird..

Ninja edit, while I was searching for reference Vantage scores. :p

Similar to 480 means very close to 5870 and loosing to a 570, since the new(er) Fermis get a boost, due to fullspeed FP16 texture filtering. Similar to 5970 means.. well, you can imagine. ;)

Isn't it because of such cases '11 is being delayed?

Also, before or after this, which may just be semi-accurate?

I assume from your former former post the release 'delay' is from a prolonged decision-making process on SIMD counts and/or clocks for at least one of the parts. If that were the case, this could certainly tie into that. Wouldn't be surprising given the barrage of rumors to a similar effect over the last month or so.

Perhaps AMD is/was having a crisis trying to figure out where to place these things in accordance to not only their current and upcoming stack, but also nVIDIA's, while balancing it with yields and/or price/value?

Always open to clarification and clearing up of fud.

Not so weird if HD6950 really has "only" 1GB of memory ...

Likewise, a 2GB HD6970 could very well destroy the competition in high-res + lots of AA benches, of course :)
