AMD plans to ship around 500,000 units of Radeon HD 3850 and 3870 by the year's end http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2007/11/15/amd-ship-half-million-rv670

So far the promise is NOT coming true.... :(

I just don't get - what type of people trying to purchase / get HD-Radeon 3870.

A. Nvidia Geforce 8600 series owners
B. Nvidia Geforce 7600/7800/7900 series owners
C: Nvidia Geforce 6800 series owners
D. ATI Radeon HD2600 series owners
E. ATI Radeon x1800/X1900/X1950 series owners
F. ATI Radeon X700/X800/X850 series owners

I don't think People who own HD-Radeon 2900 series and People who own GF8800 series would buy RV670XT.

It's probably majority of people who still own obsolete video cards are trying to buy / get RV670XT.

Why do you think this promise isn't coming true? Do you think all of ATI's board partners combined won't order 500K units from ATI? Remember, they said shipped and not sold. I'll be quite surprised if ATI do not hit that number.

Anybody ordering a system from Dell? I haven't seen any of the major OEMs shipping systems with the 3800's yet but my guess would be that they're stocking them for the Christmas shopping season.

I think the Alienware systems offer the ATI HD 3870 while some Dell systems seem to offer an Nvidia alternative.

They plan to sell 500000 units? That's nothing, I plan to take over the world. Muhahahaa :devilish:

Back on topic, what's the sense of this topic to begin with?

The report states that a resistor issue on 3870 models has caused a slight hiccup in supply

Is that mean that HD3870 that I just ordered from Best buy will come defective Radeon card ??

500,000 * ~400gflops = 200pflops
now, if daamit would bundle a botnet^Wdistributed computing client...
otoh 500,000 * ~100W = 50MW(!), green computing = pull the plug
