Perhaps I'm missing something but if I have Skype why is game or party chat important?

Do you have Skype on 360? Didn't think so. And don't even say that you have it on another platform because there is no way to connect your 360 friends to your Skype contacts. The whole point you're missing is not a big deal for Xbox One users. It's that 360 users have no way to connect to XB1 users other than seeing them on a friends list. They can't chat via game or party chat. Maybe private chat or even private messages(voice or text) will be supported, but they haven't said either way.

Looks like late 2014. I think it might be too late by then. The damage will have already been done & I expect MS to be always playing catch up from then on. Now MS may not care if they have more profits, but it's unit sales that will determine lead platform on multiplatform titles unless MS continues to write big checks.

Not certain why this thread is still open as the topic at hand seems to focus around business comparison between MS and Sony and there's a thread for that. There's also other threads discussing which system you're pre-ordering and one to see if you're switching console brands. There's also other threads for launch titles. This thread no longer serves any purpose.
