...I still keep discovering new things!
She's a 2010 Infiniti M35x I picked up used in '12. I love her to pieces but one thing that I always wanted was an audio line in at least, she has no phone integration besides ancient Apple stuff. Putting in an audio in jack requires accessing the back of the head unit which means pulling apart the dash which means a number of days of work I'm not sure I could pull off so I gave up and just use the MC card slot and keep some memory sticks in her. A bit limited but it got me my tunes.
Yesterday my son Ollie asked if I might know if an red/white RCA jack to standard 3.5mm stereo cable, which to a guy who's been collecting cables for 30 years was like a challenge. Found it today and I'll be damned if my son didn't go and out clever me!
My car has three RCA inputs in the backseat so you could hook a viddy player up to it. Nevermind the fact that it would play on the tiny screen and not really be visible from the back but it does have audio in which when I hook the RCA cables up gives me a 3.5mm stereo connector that plays beautifully through my cars system.
As pissed as I am at myself for not thinking of it I'm even prouder of my son for figuring out. He wanted to be able to play stuff from his phone while we drove and he figured out a way. Just felt like posting about it since I haven't been this happy to feel stupid in a long time.
Happy happy! Joy joy!
