Power in numbers doesn't necessarily mean your goal is going to be achieved, especially in a situation like this. If it did I'm certain there would be a machine gun readily accessible to to every man, woman and child in their mansion they got for peddling drugs.

As much good as any other online petition has ever done I'd bet.

Not in Canada, that's why you pay a levy on all recordable media. As long as it is for your own personal use, it is legal, providing the original disc that the music was ripped from was purchased and not stolen (which is impossible to know).

No, the levy is only charged on "blank audio recording media" meaning CD-R and RW, and only reproductions of musical works are legal, things like books on tape can not be legally shared.
