A New look of Bitboys...

Nice site and new focus on mobile.

Very frustrating about the Axe processor.

well, as I have said many times before... There's more in their R&D than Mobile SVG core... ;)

I'll just quote their company page:
Bitboys is an independent, multi-customer company with own products in more than one market segment

Now it's seems to be Official, NEC is the new fab partner of Bitboys.

ahahahha i knew it and i told u guys so
thanks Nappe1
NEC....i knew it all along

Sounded like quite a nice solution, what are the chances of NEC bringing it to the market place? Didn't NEC manufacture the orginal PVR chips?

I noticed the card had a power plug at the top left, was this required to power the EDRAM?

afaik, card is in the limits of agp specs, but it is so close to the max that for security reasons they added power plug.

AXE GRAPHICS PROCESSOR

Axe graphics processor is designed for the volume desktop PC market. It supports full OpenGL ® 1.3 and Microsoft DirectX ® 8.1 feature set with MatrixAA™ anti-aliasing.

The processor contains over 6 million logic gates and 12M bytes of embedded DRAM memory, working together with external SDRAM memory (up-to 128M bytes).

Again, as with the Trident XP4. DX8.1 Support with only ~30Mio Transistors. Strange,or?

Mboeller: 6 million gates.

afaik, it has aproximately 60 million transistors without eDRAM...

Nappe1,

That figure sounds rather high don't you think? 10 transistors per logic gate sounds a bit too high. Unless, gates in the mass-production high speed digital systems designs share little except for function with their simple textbook counter parts.

yes, it sounds high. The question is how aproximately that value is...

still more than one source has indicated transistor count being something between 50 and 60 Mio..

anyways, I got bored saying "gates" all the time (here, IRC, @ ICQ and in the couple of other forums...) and drop a note to them that adding actual transistor count on the page would make things a bit easier.

so... who else would like to see
Beyond3D Exclusive: Bitboy's Axe Sample Card reviewed ;)

i'd really like how good this Card would have been.
Any chances Dave?

I'd sure like to see that :D , and I've been hoping for ages that it would happen! No such luck yet...

I really doubt that they were that far in development of Axe to be able to give out sample boards for testing. If I am wrong, please give me proof.

Fuz: asking a proof, is bit problematic because no one here as far as I know is working at Bitboys right now...

if my words still have any weight, I can say that they have at least second revision of the chip due to some problems on Infineons process.

nevidimka: Axe isn't going to make to the stores. It is stated on Bitboys webpages.

Yeah sure, I respect what you say, but you can understand if I am still sceptical about anything to do with Bitboys.

NO YOU CAN'T B'CAUZE THEY OWN YOUR GOD DAMN A$$!1111§§§

;)
ahem... well, without joking, no one can force you, and you have your reasons. (though IMO your reasons would be straight from the Arse, I don't have a power to change them.)

so go ahead, be skeptical. ;) it won't have big effect to my life... :)
