a computer with 2 dvd devices, playing and writing

If your system had 2 DVD devices, would it be possible to play a DVD in one while recording a DVD on the second device without any performance degradation? Has anyone tried this before?

Doable but inadvisable. There's always the possibility of a coaster due to cpu hiccups even with all those burnproof type techniques.

Should easily be doable, playing DVDs takes very little CPU and burning needs even less.
Its only a problem if both Drives hang on the same IDE-Cable, but as you use Sata that shouldnt be an issue.
