3DFX technology in consoles?

is there any console with any amount of 3Dfx technology?

(not counting the scrapped Sega BlackBelt prototype)

Dreamcast - no
PS2 - no
Gamecube - ??
XBox - ????

for Gamecube I would say no right away, because its graphics were made by ArtX, now part of ATI, but perhaps some 3Dfx engineers left 3Dfx and went back to SGI before ArtX spilt off, or to ArtX themselves?

XBox, i would say is the most possible. wasnt there some small 3Dfx contribution to the NV25? the XBox shares most of the tech thats in NV25 so perhaps there's a hint of 3Dfx in XBox?

just curious :)

course, if Nvidia scores XBox2 deal, then there will be significant amounts of 3Dfx tech there :)

Heh. NV30 has no '3dfx tech' in the common sense, just tech with some contribution from former 3dfx engineers.

A lot of 3dfx engineers who didn't want to work at nVidia, went to ATi and Quantum3D instead.

Currently, no console has any direct 3dfx tech, but 3dfx were just a short step away from proving in court that nVidia had stolen their multitexturing method and used it in TNT/2/GF256/GF2... so if you want to get technical, XGPU uses one of 3dfx's most important contributions to realtime 3D, multitexturing :)

(note that ATi, PowerVR, and Matrox developed their own methods for multitexturing)
