256MB is defintely an option for R350, Tahir. It's an "option" for R300 and NV30 as well though - doesn't really mean much.

Oh I know that already and so do most people on these boards, but I was just fooling around, with my comment about sources. My sources = tomato ketchup.

I do think there is a possibilty for the likes of Hercules to bring out a limited run of R350's with 256MB of onboard memory and perhaps Sapphire too.

Visiontek I am puzzled with. They seem to have something big planned but if I were in a business relationship with a company that still owed a lot of money to my competitors I would be a little wary. Hopefully the past is the past and Visiontek can deliver like they were famed for in the not too distant past.

Now. You can never have anywhere close to 'enough' of video memory.

Though I would much rather see 16GB () or so of virtualized texture memory than see IHVs put all their efforts into large quantities of VRAM.

I would need to see a marked performance improvement in something like Doom 3, Unreal, or Morrowind before paying more for the extra 128MB of RAM.

At the moment I dont think they are necessary..most systems dont have that much RAM!

Anyone running Windows XP with less then say 384mb RAM should be shot... Anyone still selling new systems with less then 384mb RAM should be shot............

I'm running WinXP with only 256Mb of RAM...though only because my second stick of memory fried itself for some unknown reason. Maybe you could let me off with a warning?

We sell systems with 128MB of RAM

There is such a thing as Win ME you know.. still widely available retail or OEM.

Anyone who purchases these systems however should be shot.. (hey most people with PC's dont play 3D accelerated games doncha'know)
