How so? Expectation PC players will get a GP sub to stream the 'console' game on PC? Won't they have to buy it on 'console' to be able to do that, which then won't transfer into a Windows licence once the native version is available?

Yes, you have to buy the console version of the game, since only that will be available, and in the meantime you have to subscribe to the GP service. However, if you do all this through the MS store, you will also receive the future PC version with the one-time purchase due to the Xbox play anywhere program.

Remember, this is GTA6, and probably a lot of people won't wait for the later native PC release if they want to play the game and it will be available that way.

Ok I'm playing Ninja fucking Gaiden 2 UE5 remaster starting today and 5 other AAA MS games for the next 4 months, all for $50
Good luck to anyone who wants to do this without Gamepass for $400.
A remake? Not exactly compelling stuff.

It's also very easy to do this for less than $400, wait like two months and the games will be half off. All Xbox games do this as none of them sell well.

I read an interesting thing on another forum where someone brought up the topic of whether you will be able to play GTA6 on PC when the game is released on consoles. And here something was discussed that few people have yet understood. MS plans to stream all purchased games. If the game will be streamed on PC via Game Pass when it debuts on the console, then this is a huge business win for Microsoft and their subscription service.
If it works well then thats great, but I think console sales are going to get a strong boost during the launch of GTA 6. It will be the primary way of playing and experiencing the game for most people

What the f@ck are you talking about dude?

Xbox games do great on PS and Nintendo. And on Xbox, they get the money from Gamepass.

Ninja Gaiden is a remake yes, but the internet exploded with it, it's full of youtubers and everyone is talking about it for a week and a half, because it's a good game.

Wait? Then with that much strength you can wait another year and get everything at a discount... Most people don't wait for good games, they always want them now and buy them when they debut.

This can be great for PC players because they can play the new GTA ahead of time if they give this option.

sounds good on paper, in reality to move the needle.... they might need more, the console version is going to run at 30fps and PC gamers that might be interested in the game would rather prefer to run the game on their own hardware.

If it was a Mario game you can play with your family co-op and so on, who knows....

On a different note, Sarah Bond has talked on Bluesky about how happy she is with the new games on gamepass.

And Xbox One players. If you can stream it to One, you can buy the game without owning a Series console and play it.

The only good Xbox game last year was Black Ops 6 and they literally just bought that lol.

Good games no they don't wait, remakes of games they played 15 years ago? Most would just wait.

As for popularity, you are the only mention I've seen of this game. I am guessing most of these 'excited youtubers' are also Xbox orbiters lol.

What?
Hellblade 2, Indiana Jones, Flight Sim 24, Doom 1+2 Remastered, Ara, and Age of Mythology Retold came out in 2024. It was a pretty good year for first party Xbox.

Math is hard ....

with this..., the console wars has ended.

They were telling us ("I called it" like @rntongo would say xD ), it's not new, especially when Phil talked about the red lines. Now it's news as if when someone says that the water makes you wet.

If this happened 6 years ago the world would explode, but now.... I wonder what @eastmen or @Johnny Awesome think about this,

Next up, Gran Turismo on the Xbox.

3/6 of those are remakes lol.

Hellblade 2 is good but it failed commercially. Flight sim is cool (I used to play a lot of flight sims) but it really isn’t that much different from 2020.

Indiana Jones looked good but we will see how it sells overall. Probably their second biggest success of the year besides Blops.

edit: sorry, skipped Ara, didn’t notice it. I love grand strategy games and I didn’t even realize this came out. I guess that explains the 6/10 rating.

So what if they are remakes? Also, only 2 of them are remakes. AoM wasn't on console before, so it's new to some people. And Doom is eternal.

Hellblade 2 and Flight Sim are some of the best games released in their genres, maybe of all time, but definitely of last year.

And are we talking about good games, or games that sold well? Because they are totally different metrics. If you meant to say "The only good selling Xbox game last year was Black Ops 6" that's a different conversation. It was also the best selling game of last year, and Xbox also had MW3 and Minecraft in the top 20. If we are only considering sales and requiring games to have been released in the calendar year in question, then EA is the best publisher, as they have 5 SKUs in the top 10 from last year. Namco had DBZ and Elden Ring (2022). Sony published Helldivers 2. 2K had NBA. And Xbox had Blops6. What does this all mean? Are any of these games good? Will new criteria appear change the course of this conversation? Tune in next episode.
Best Selling Games of 2024 said:
  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
  2. EA Sports College Football 25
  3. Helldivers 2
  4. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
  5. NBA 2K25
  6. Madden NFL 25
  7. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023)
  8. EA Sports FC 25
  9. Elden Ring
  10. EA Sports MVP Bundle

? Being new to console doesn’t mean it isn’t a remake. They call those ports, they aren’t new games.

Flight sim is good but again it’s basically a DLC for 2020. Hellblade was a good game but like I said it’s not going to sell well even in its genre.

I think my issue with talking about MS and their success is that MS just bought half the industry, so yeah they’re gonna have some hits but their success has nothing to do with MS. Blops 6 would have been successful regardless of MS’ involvement, and I think it’s kinda cheap to call this a successful year for MS when they literally just bought a bunch of successful studios. Including Minecraft in this is another example: Minecraft was the most popular game in the world years before MS bought it lol.

My point is: I haven’t seen much homegrown MS first party success, they just buy the competition basically. And most of these games will go on sale because they don’t sell very well outside of Blops and maybe Flight Sim.

Also calling this first party success is dubious as their most successful title launched on PS5 day one so is this even first party anymore?

"Console exclusives will soon be obsolete": this is how one of the most important journalists in the sector sees the future of the industry

Age of Empires 2 DE and Age of Mythology Retold coming to PS5. AoE2 will be launched in the spring of 2025, and AoM this march.

This one really surprised me tbh.
