Sony PlayStation 5 Pro

So is Sony training the PSSR at the moment and will be sending out updates through firmware? How will PSSR improve? Or is it implemented per game by the developer themselves?
It seems like the latest versions of PSSR are quite good! But implementation seems to be a challenge. Some games require more changes than others to support it well

Seems like devs are learning not to take option of other upscalers out at this stage. Sony 1st party ironically did this first. Outlaws just put toggle for FSR back in..

Black Myth Wukong Received a PRO update giving a Steady 30fps or 40fps

performance mode though seems lower now compared to before, either they increased the Resolution and still use Frame Generation
or they dropped FG Entirely or no FG and uses a Lower Base resolution

lol if they actually increaed to resolution for no reason. They should lower the perfomance resolution to about ~900p and upscale with TSR.. it should be close to 60fps on PRO without any framegen.

PSSR looks great on Wukong. How weird.
Really? The question is, is PSSR failing in some cases because of bad implementations or because of shortcomings of the technology? (And a combination of the two, probably)

DLSS needed Nvidia engineers for the first major implementations to ensure quality, maybe Sony should have done the same.

Definitely looks far better than the PS5, but can be at the expense of performance - sometimes significantly. They would have to lower the input res to compensate for PSSR's overhead to just match PS5 performance, at which point the improvements may be more minor.

Well, the IQ looks great with none of the issues that I've seen on other recent bad implementations.

….The performance mode doesn’t user PSSR. Only balanced and Quality. And its implementation is done well…there’s YouTube videos on it.

And I’m not seeing the issue with a toggle being added to Alan Wake 2. It wasn’t an issue when Sony devs added both the base ps5 upscaling and pssr toggles. First people say they want options, then they say they don’t…Like some of the DF guys. It’s whatever at this point. I’m just hoping the 40fps RT mode brings a good balance to the picture quality.

PSSR is only used in balanced and quality mode. This shot doesn't have PSSR.

Ah yeah I scrolled up to see the previous posts, my bad. Getting lower performance in performance mode is bizarre, but if they turned off FG for lower latency I guess that was their reasoning (?). Could be that they're hitting a CPU bottleneck at that point so lowering the res further may not mean much.

A Ryzen 5 2600 is getting around 80 fps. The game is very light on the CPU.
