Sony PlayStation 5 Pro

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be 30fps on consoles
Ok if that's the case I still have another available finger on my hand. ;)

EDIT: A 60fps mode is possible on consoles according to the Executive Producer (september 12th 2024). A shame for the 30fps apologetics.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is not finished yet, so we're still working on it, but 60FPS is not out of reach for us.

Yeah it will look on base ps5 at best as jedi survivor, ff7r and f16 performance modes (unpleayble for me) 😁

A shame for the 30fps apologetics.
There's nothing controversial about thinking 30fps is still entirely playable. And there shouldn't be anything controversial about wishing to see devs not have to water down their ambitions due to demands from this newfound dogmatic clan of '60fps or die' people on the internet.

Calling anybody 'apologists' over this is just bizarre language.

On PS5 I can count those games with the fingers of one hand. Incredible that even Sony execs are gaslighted by their competitor's narrative.
Indeed. It would be troublesome if they make all PS5 titles 30fps going forward and gently nudge players towards 5Pro if they want 60fps.

I’m not against the idea, but it shouldn’t be the case.

There are dozens of us! Dozens!!!
Honestly, anything that isn't a first person shooter or that needs aiming is fine on a controller, aside from edge cases like DMC.

Ps: forgot to add, 30 fps with acceptable amounts of input lag.

Also, I'm sorry but most videogame cutscenes look much better at 30 fps with motion blur. Those 60 fps or even 120 fps cutscenes look like soap operas from turkey.

Rereading the tweet the manager was likely talking about the countless PS4 games still stuck at 30fps (like Bloodborne).

See. you are still gaslighting about it. "but it shouldn't be the case" like if it was actually the case. That's a new goalpost too.

It wasn't something on my mind until you pointed it out. That's not why I posted that tweet. There just wasn't any information on the time on how 5Pro handled unpatched titles.

I had a fine time with Destiny being 30fps, and I spent countless hours playing that on console, and at lower resolution.

I've switched over to PC, but I've never felt like too many titles killed me being at 30fps. I think Witcher 3 was the only one causing me issues as some boss fights required faster reaction than latency could provide at 30fps.

30 fps on a shooter can be enjoyable, but in my experience, aiming can become kind of hard, especially when you need to make small adjustments.

Destiny did it right, with high amounts of aim assist and low input lag. But that's Bungie, at least they are good with that.

And yeah you can count on GTA6 to have a mode targeting 60fps. When was the last time a game targeting 30fps was released on PS5? 2022?

30fps is dead on Playstation and Cerny officialized it. Devs would be suicidal to release their games (on PS5 Pro) without a 60fps mode.
Nothing Rockstar does can be "suicidal". They could release GTA VI at 15 fps only and it would still be the best-selling game of the decade.

Yet they made the additionnal work of adding RT shadows on consoles in the 60fps performance mode when they clearly didn't need it. Nor did they needed to add a 60fps mode. And their RT shadows implementation is one of the best on consoles, probably the best. Seems to me they are very interested into pushing the technical enveloppe on consoles.

Uncharted wasn't unplayable at 30 fps and didn't suffer from low sales. As mentioned before on this board though, does the prevalence of OLED screens make 30 fps less tolerable than other displays from the past?
Yes it does. This is what I am constantly reading from many people having OLEDs. They can't tolerate 30fps anymore while 60fps looks so much better on their OLED TVs.

And the thing I noticed is that the higher resolutions, the higher framerates you need. I could tolerate 30fps at 720p on PS3 (I still can), it wasn't that much of a problem. But from 1080p and up it becomes a much bigger problem.

In the grand scheme of things, OLED's still aren't anywhere near the most common display type for 30fps to be an issue to the vast majority of gamers.

30fps being less tolerable is simply because gamers have had a consistent taste of 60fps for the last 4 years and they're just used to (and like) how it 'feels'
