One thing is certain, GTA VI is one of the most anticipated games of all time if not the most.
But another thing is certain too, 2025 in gonna be a packed year.
When it comes to GTA VI, at this point anyone in the gaming circle know why it can be a big and a great game, and of the biggest launches in entertainment history. But can someone already "claim" it'll be the 2025 GOTY at TGA?
Let's look at some possible contenders for the big GOTY award:
Monster Hunter Wilds
Monster Hunter is a big franchise, Monster Hunter World was a really good game that brought MH to new heights. This time they can go even further. Also, it's Capcom, one of the most present publishers in TGA GOTY nomineers, in recent years.
Death Stranding 2
The first Death Stranding was pretty divisive, with some people praising it and some others defining the game as a not so cohesive experience. The sequel can hit all the boxes this time, and we can expect no less from Kojima than a relevant game nonetheless.
Fable
Playground Games already makes excellent games in the Forza Horizon series and now it's gonna enter the action-RPG realm with the Fable reboot. I think we can expect a really good entry in the series.
Metroid Prime 4
Metroid Prime is of the one best games ever made, as the franchise overall. Retro Studios is one of the top tier developers out there, and we can only expect this to be one of 2025 highlights.
New 3D Mario
*This one is not confirmed but very, very likely to be released on 2025, as Switch 2 will be released on 2025 and it should release at the console launch or at least in the same year.
We don't really have much to explain, it's Nintendo and it's 3D Mario. To put some context, Super Mario Odyssey (last 3D Mario) could have been easily the 2017 GOTY if not for Nintendo's own competitor, Zelda BOTW. Some think 3D Mario can have its BOTW moment this time, going open world.

That's the games that I currently see having the biggest chances of facing GTA VI, but the list goes on. There's also unnanounced games and possible indie hits.
That being said, do you see another game winning the TGA award next year or do you think it's a lock for GTA VI?
