To me this series of shows has always shown the best that comedy can produce when you are clever enough to work around 'what is allowed" without being obvious and in your face.

It was very topical for the times, the early 1980's, it was daft but then equally it was very deft. It is politically incorrect in 2007 but politically insightful in the early 1980's, it judged sarcasm and critique on one hand with good old fashionend humour and innocent fun on the other hand. It poked fun and was a great analysis of the times that also has things that are still relevant today.

Thanks to Youtube some of the moments I found funny then and still find funny today. If you are not at least 35 and from the UK you may want to turn away now ? :)

NTNON was great, and really paved the way for a lot of the modern style of comedy that came to the fore in the 80s in the UK. It's a pity that although the repeats are funny, a lot of stuff was topical comedy (they wrote and recorded a lot of it within a day of transmission), so unless you were there at the time, and knew what was in the news that week, some of the funniest bits won't mean much.

"Wild? I was absolutely livid!"

I remember seeing the grammopghone/turn table skit a long time ago on TV.

Nice to be able to re-live it heh. Thanks.

Peace.
