What are you playing now? [2007-2018]

replaying Deus Ex get again, haven't played it for like 4-5 years. still a great game, one of the best/if not the best of all time, using Dx10 renderer, texture pack and "shifter".

You know that is one of the apparently true great PC classic's I've never played. Could you provide some info/links on the enhancements you're using? Maybe it's time to actually play the thing and see what everyone has been raving about for the last decade :D

Just make sure you play through the first level. It's not as horrible as people make it out to be but it is kind of boring and doesn't let on just how complex (plot-wise) the game can get; maybe that was a conscious design decision.

Also, fair warning, the core FPS mechanics (running, jumping, shooting) plus colision detection aren't very good. Stick with it, it's worth it.

shifter, just makes the game better all round, makes exp gain a bit more RPG based.

new deus ex exe, community made, fixes issues on modern systems such as the game running way to fast.

here is the very early demo of the model replacement,

everyone is wanting for that to finish, apparently animations in deus ex are veyr hard to do.

this could be interesting but i dont currently use it:
http://dx-revision.com/web/news.php , they add extra parts to level's. given the openness of quite a few of the level's, hong kong/Paris they could be gold.

cheers

A little bit of Just Cause 2. Can't seem to get into the game unfortunately. 10 minutes is really all it takes for me to become fed up with it.

Strangely enough I was the same. But I kept coming back to it, and it got me very hooked. I think the big thing is it really needs a decent graphics card just to make everything flow smoothly. I couldn't really enjoy it on a 4870 (gave me headaches in about 10 minutes), but when I went to a 6950, everything just sort of clicked. Weird that graphics horsepower just seemed to improve the gameplay, just because you could do what you wanted without the graphics getting in the way of a good experience.

I finally got around to d/l JC2 last night on Steam. Bought it a few weeks ago while it was on sale, along with quite a bit of DLC for it (most of it was 25 cents). I'm on the fence of whether or not I should pre-order Deus Ex: HR, hate paying $50 for games anymore unless they're something I'm really looking forward to (such as Skyrim, Batman, or Diablo 3).

I have a GTX570, and I play either on a 1680x1050 monitor or a 720p projector. Performance is definitely not the issue here. The game is just kinda directionless and stupid.

Well it's more of a sandbox, go cause mass chaos, have fun blowing shit up kinda game. It does have a storyline with missions (where you go around causing mass chaos and having fun blowing shit up).

I do just that. Well, for 10 minutes at least. I sure like sandboxes for all the possible distractions. I guess I just don't like when the distractions are more or less everything a game has to offer. Let's face it: the story is pretty fucking stupid. (I was also severely disappointed when crash landing a passenger plain into an offshore oil rig caused no more damage than a hand grenade)

Are you playing it with a 360 controller? I couldn't get to grips with JC2 on a mouse n keys (I normally always use m+k). With the controller it was loads of fun.

I found it quite fun with either a 360 pad or m/kb. Really a well made game, even though it's not necessarily my cup of tea.

picked up space pirates and zombies again, let's see how much did things change from beta to release :)
Also nice thing is that the key you got when bought from impulse is usable in steam

Yep. I play just about everything with a controller. Keyboards and mice aren't all that well suited for couch gaming.

I've been playing a lot of BF2 recently, on the 1.41 patch. Just discovered I'm not ranking up (I'm not particularly bothered) but looking into it I should patch to 1.5 if I want to. Looking at the notes there's all kinds of goodies like proper widescreen support which definitely has me interested.

Has anyone made that transition and regretted it? I'm not amazingly fussed about ranks any more. I hear there's a few bugs with the 1.5 that concern me, like prone shooting being less accurate than standing. Don't know what to believe. Should I just stay with 1.41?

just checked the battlefield 2 page (because I remember bf2 not liking widescreen)
there is no mention of any 1.50 patch only 1.41
found 1.50 and yes you should get it as it contains the 2 expansion packs
