Windows 11 [2021]

You can design your test, to show the results you want.
I bet with the settings I use, Linux is not faster 🤷‍♂️
I would guess proton doesn’t handle ray tracing as well as rasterization. I’d dual-boot Linux and use windows for incompatible anti cheat and performance.

That was kinda my point, hence I run Windows 11 and not Linux as I go for maximum image quality with playable FPS and that means RT enabled.

I hope with SteamOS more game companies will support Linux (with anti-cheat, RT, etc.). Yes, for people with only one machine, dual boot can be a hassle, but for people with separate working and gaming machines, it's much easier to make a Linux box without all those weird applications running in the background eating memory and CPU cycles.

now that windows protection popups starts happening again, and its blocking build-in apps from accessing my documents. including remote desktop (for saving the connection profiles), and even snipping tool (to save the screenshot via win shift s).

lite versions of Windows 11 and so on aside, what works WONDERFULLY well to speed up your computer is disabling ALL your background apps. I had never done this before, and ever since I did that, the computer's responsiveness is really really good now.

How to disable all background apps:

1) Click on the Windows icon.
2) Search for GPEDIT
3) Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Windows Components --> App Privacy --> Double click on "Let Windows apps to run in the background"
4) Choose the "Disabled" option --> Apply -->> OK

And voila. Everything will be fine and the services you have enabled at startup or authorized will run perfectly. Everything else in the background that you don't need will be disabled and won't consume any resources.

Windows defender offline scan should already murder them, right?

Or other offline scan is recommended?

All the new WinUI 3 parts of Windows 11 behaving like a website, instantly displaying half finished UI and then slowly filling stuff in is really grating on me.

UWP was slow to begin with, but WinUI has taken it to the next level for various reasons. WinRT is such a disastrously bad way to handle any API with high calling frequency. Everything in Windows is slowly being converted to a fundamental API which is fundamentally broken.

The Windows UI would literally be better if they just webshitted everything with react native ... and that's terribly fucking sad.
