I don't have any english source for this atm, but I guess people who use ZoneAlarm would like to know this - ZoneAlarm calls home.
It sends data to 4 different servers.
At first, Zone Labs declined it. Now, they admit it, but call it a bug (which, by looking at the files, is hardly a possibility).
Zone Labs also promised there would be a patch to fix it, but when, remains open.
Some sites apparently say it's only proven for the commercial version, but it's also been found to be true on the free version.
This is true for at least ZoneAlarm 6.0 and newer.
For a quick fix, you should add to windows's host file this line:
127.0.0.1 zonelabs.com
