Why not just use CC to buy a new years subscription?

What do you mean? Are you talking about buying a 12-month block over Live? I didn't realise you could do that - is it cheaper than buying monthly blocks, and roughly the same price as buying a card in a store?

You should be able to choose a 12 month option over Live, and its price should be the same as the store-bought card.

The in-store cards are about $50, but you can find the same card for $40 if you look around, and they give you 13 months. I haven't checked in a long time but isn't the credit card option 12 months for $50.

If it is, then the in-store cards would be the better option.

Yeah, it pays to check. I haven't been to the store in awhile, but I do recall the 12+1. I'm not sure if that's the card by itself or with a starter pack though.
