I was playing Gears of War tonight and when I went to the dashboard it said that there was an update available. Did anyone else get it? I wonder what it was for.
- Improved support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution
- Improved plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers
- Changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy
Now if Only sony could fix there scaler issue that fast.
One question relating to the resolution, is it possible to have 1080p over component?...
I heard there aren't many HDTV's that support 1080P over component.
There aren't. At the moment only Samsung does that, but it's just not considered a priority for the manufacturers as everything now is moving towards HDMI and digital signals, especially new formats like 1080p.
Err...Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic, Westinghouse all support 1080p components last time I checked. There aren't. The only "big" name missing from there is Sony.
So the majority of TV's in the US support 1080p over component? Good news for MS if true...

Sony of America has officially moved to squelch those rumors floating around the Internet lately to the effect that a firmware patch is incoming for PS3's with the unfortunate habit of downscaling certain games to 480p.
Omfg Yes! They Fixed 1080p On Bravia Sets!!!!!!!!!!!! Works with VGA cable now! Id like to think my message to Major Nelson on XBL yesterday sped up the process but I'm not that naive Pics!
For example, the above image shows a Sony XBR3 television finally displaying 1080p content over component. So, for those users who only needed that fixed, you're on your way.
