Xbox 360 launch day lineup announced

The PS2 had been out for 7 months when it launched in the US - it is pretty unfair to expect the xbox 360 launch lineup to macth that.

I'm saying far superior than the Japanese PS2 launch.

Here is the list from the PS2 Launch. From IGN
http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager....=1&cId=3144956

"Eternal Ring, Kessen, Stepping Selection, Street Fighter EX3, DrumMania, Ridge Racer V, and Fantavision"

Not comprehensive I don't think. I looked through a couple of IGN articles and saw these games, plus a couple of other Japanese titles mentioned, and they were mentioned as being "among others". Not that I'm sure any of those titles were of particular interest to people here ;)

Jeez, even with Oblvion goen I got some tough calls.

Definately getting Kameo, definately getting PD0. NHL 2K6 is pretty much a sure bet...that's already 3 games...

Then we have COD2, PGR3, Tiger Woods 06, Madden 06 and COndemned all vying for the 4th spot....decisions decisions...

Titanio,

You may be right on the additional titles, but according to that article it reads like that was it. Here is the relevant excerpt.
http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=1&cId=3144956

“Many who were fortunate enough to snag systems at launch turned around and sold them on eBay to eager Americans who inexplicably paid as much as $1,200 for the chance to play the first batch of PS2 games. It's hard to imagine why anyone would have been willing to shell out that much, given that the initial lineup was somewhat uninspiring. Consisting of Eternal Ring, Kessen, Stepping Selection, Street Fighter EX3, DrumMania, Ridge Racer V, and Fantavision, it continued the long-running Japanese tradition of launching systems without any killer apps to speak of.â€￾

To put things into perspective; what were the Japanese PS2 launch games?

How does that put things in perspective? Those games were meant to appeal to the Japanese audience.

360 US launch is pretty lacking to me. The best game looks to be COD2 which I've been playing for the past month on PC.

Depending which Genres you like, the 'best' game could easily be PGR3, Madden 2006, Kameo or Condemned.

The launch is excellent, however I'm dissapointed on the lack of RPG's. To be fair they had a doozy lined up in Oblivion, but it was out of their control and got pushed back...

It puts things into perspective because those were the games that were ready under "real" launch time constraints. For the other launches, the developers had an extra 7 months to work on titles.

seismologist, I think he was referring to the list that Titanio provided, which was for the US launch 6 months after the debut of the PS2.

Of course when it comes to quality that is subjective and the Japanese market as a whole would likely have a different set of preferences, like you mentioned.
The article that I linked to mentioned that the Japanese in general didn't like the titles, but I haven’t tried to corroborate it.

When it comes down to the quantity question, it looks like the 360 delivered, and may be even the largest launch lineup, depending on if someone can confirm the titles that were available at launch in Japan for the PS2 .

oblivion is missing :(
According to GAME in sweden, oblivion has been pushed back to march 29th ('06, in case it really needs to be stated... :p)

I'd LOVED to see a nice mecha game a la Zone of Enders for x360 with mass battles, tons of enemies, explosions, homing lasers, particles and sfx galore etc etc... Hopefully someone will make a game like that soon. According to the guys at GAME, who'd been to a MS demonstration last week, the games that looked the most impressive were those that were the most 'busy', with lots of stuff going on on-screen. The driving games in comparison did not look that much better than the stuff we already got (one of them mentioned GT4 here).

I beat call of duty 2 twice already and going on a third run with the highest difficulty .

sad that there are no mmorpgs . But the biggest mmorpg i would have been looking to buy it on the pc anyway .

JVD, why don't you take that X360 in the back room for 16 hours and give us a nice in-depth Kameo review!
our units come in tuesday and i'm already taking mine home that day :) shhh !!! they are just going to ring me up when i'm in mexico .

Anyway we've already played the hell out of kameo in the kiosk (full game not demo) if i were to rate it , it would get a 8.5 or so .

how's the world? Is it really open with tons of random sidequests like Zelda, or more straightforward platform style?

the world is interesting. If you've been to a place u can go back and do some side quests but there is still the main story line .

Its no where near as indepth as zelda though . Its more like a mario 64 game .

Ive only logged in like an hour and a half , my friend is at 15 hours playing already. but thats cause i have a real job haha

That's what I meant... Cheers!
