Xbox 360 launch day lineup announced

Not quite as good as I had originally hoped for, but there are still 4 games I'm getting for sure. Guess I'll have to wait a month or two for the rest.

And I'll need to rent GUN before I decide if I want to buy that or not. I'm somewhat interested, but not enough to drop $60 blindly on it.

Fun and different, but way too short. :(

Out of those listed I'll probably be getting:

Kameoâ„¢: Elements of Powerâ„¢ (Microsoft Game Studios)
Go on a journey full of magnificent exploration and innovative morph-into-monster action.

Perfect Dark Zeroâ„¢ (Microsoft Game Studios)
Plunge into a world of corporate espionage and conspiracy as perfect agent Joanna Dark.

Project Gotham Racing 3 (Microsoft Game Studios)
Life begins at 170 mph with the ultimate roster of the hottest supercars in existence.

Call of Duty 2 (Activision)
Experience the cinematic intensity and chaos of epic WWII battles in this Xbox 360 exclusive.

Peter Jackson's King Kongâ„¢ (Ubisoft)
Battle for survival on Skull Island as Jack Driscoll and even play as the mighty Kong himself.

Condemned: Criminal Originsâ„¢ (SEGA)
Pursue serial killers lurking on the periphery of humanity through squalid urban environments.

Ridge Racerâ„¢ 6 (Namco)
With more than 130 cars and 30 courses play all-new online modes, plus downloadable content.

Now I'll just need to find time to play them all ;)

18 launch games and you're still not happy? Man, tough crowd.

Can anybody give the US launch lists of Xbox, PS2, GameCube, Dreamcast and PS1? It would be nice to see how the Xbox 360 stacks up against previous launches.

Well for starters PS2's was significantly bigger. Most people under-credit it, IMO:

Armored Core 2 (Agetec, Action)
DOA2: Hardcore (Tecmo, Fighting)
Dynasty Warriors 2 (Koei, Action)
ESPN International Track and Field (Konami, Sports)
ESPN X-Games Snowboarding (Konami, Sports)
Eternal Ring (Agetec, RPG)
Evergrace (Agetec, RPG)
FantaVision (SCEI, Puzzle)
Gun Griffon Blaze (Working Designs, Action)
Kessen (EA, Adventure)
Madden NFL 2001 (EA, Sports)
Midnight Club (Rockstar, Racing)
Moto GP (Namco, Racing)
NHL 2001 (EA, Sports)
Orphen (Activision, RPG)
Q-Ball Billiards Master (Take-Two Interactive, Simulation)
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 (Midway, Sports)
Ridge Racer V (Namco, Racing)
Silent Scope (Konami, Shooter)
Smuggler's Run (Rockstar, Racing-Adventure)
SSX (EA, Sports)
Street Fighter EX3 (Capcom, Fighting)
Summoner (THQ, RPG)
Swing Away (Paradise Golf in Japan) (EA, Sports)
Tekken Tag Tournament (Namco, fighting)
TimeSplitters (Eidos, First-Person Shooter)
Unreal Tournament (Infogrames, First-Person Shooter)
Wild Wild Racing (Interplay, Racing)
X-Squad (EA, Action)

Nothing ground-breaking or genre-defining really, but a good, big, diverse selection.

Edit: No info on PS1 lineup, "only" PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, Nintendo GameCube, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Sony PlayStation 2, Sega Dreamcast and the Nintendo 64.

Were all those available on day one? I hadn't kept up with launch line-ups before. If so, that is pretty strong. I had always thought 10-12 games were par for day one console launches.

Not all PS2 launch games were available at launch like they should have. I remember full well there were half the games there should have been on the shelves, in all the shops i went to.
Not that it was a bad thing, the missing ones were the ones that got 3-5 (our of 10) scores in reviews... Don't think anyone missed them...

It's not the number, it's the game types.

And I didn't say I wasn't impressed, only that I was hoping for 2 more specific games that were originally supposed to be ready for launch but got delayed.

To put things into perspective; what were the Japanese PS2 launch games?

Trying to find a list for you, but google isn't helping me much! The US launch was far superior, though, that much is certain.

The PS2 had been out for 7 months when it launched in the US - it is pretty unfair to expect the xbox 360 launch lineup to macth that.

I tried to google too, but couldn't find it either...

Anyways, that list looks ok (for Japan), no killers, but ok.
