[XBL] 1 vs 100

Episodes are 2 hour shows a week on Friday & Saturday nights & 13 episode(week) seasons. There can be thousands of people all playing together. Every player is a real person. You have "The One" & 100 people in the "The Mob". Everybody else that joins(the thousands) will be in the "The Crowd". 4 people can play together on the same Xbox at the same time. 8 people can be play together on Xbox Live through a Live Party.

It's pretty fun. Some of the questions are far out there, and I'm hoping they keep things at least per-country for the sake of specific country and historical references. I didn't mind the X-A-B thing at all; it felt natural from a left-to-right answer scheme.

I'm not sure why they'd have framerate issues in the far view cam, but it's there. lol

Yeah, I just saw some YouTube videos where a guy finally won & beat out the mob. Can't wait for the US version. Some of those Canadian questions were pretty tough for us dumb Americans. LOL

 That's quite an achievement, and to think that a person will only be selected once per season out of thousands and thousands... I wonder what the achievements list will be like.

What I didn't quite understand was that sometimes I would see 3 other players at the top of my screen and sometimes there would be no one. :???:

It was kind of useful having those other players there because there'd be the odd question and I'd rely on the speed at which the other 3 would answer as the choices showed up.

Neat thanks for the heads up! I'm pretty excited about this as well. Already informed the wife and we squared away the evening!

Although with that said, I was reading through the rules and Maryland is one of the states excluded. So it's says to not play the Live show. Which is pretty weak. I guess I could change my contact info, but I don't think it's worth it.

What a freaking bummer! Sorry man. ;(

For everybody else, here are the portion of the rules which lists the states excluded...

PLEASE NOTE: During the Beta Period, we may host 1 vs 100 Live Shows that offer skill-based prizing. 1 vs 100 Live Shows that offer skill-based prizing are accessible only to legal residents of the 50 US or DC (excluding Connecticut, Iowa Maryland, and Vermont) and Canada (excluding Quebec). Therefore, if you trying to access a 1 vs 100 Live Show that offers skill-based prizing, and you are a resident of an excluded state or province, you should not access a 1 vs 100 Live Show.

Looks like I'm safe here in Arkansas.

So I was doing absolutely nothing but flipping through channels complaining that there was nothing on, and missed the beta that was tonight and I blame it all on YOU GUYS for not reminding me.

In all seriousness, did anybody get in? Thoughts? So far the only comments I've seen are from a bunch of people who actually were reminded to log on but could only just bitch that they couldn't get in because the game was full.

(MS sucks, should have planned for a bigger response, etc.. etc.. etc..)

Anybody got any other thoughts or comments?

I got in & it just finished. I really liked it!! I didn't get into the Mob, but I think I did respectable. I think my lifetime score beat all the guys in my group. I didn't have one problem with lag or getting in or anything. The only complaint was that there wasn't enough LIVE chit-chat from the host. There were more than a few times where he should have been chatting & it just had canned text messages at the bottom of the screen. One person beat all 100 of the Mob & he never got on to congratulate him or anything. Then they ended the game about 8 minutes early too with no chit chat or anything. Kind of a bummer the way it ended. Other than it has great promise. Can't wait for them to get more serious about it with the real launch instead of the beta.

I got to be "The One" during one of our internal games. It's nerve wracking, by the time I was done I was exhausted. Now _that's_ emotional investment :)

Being in the Mob is fun too, but not nearly as terrifying as being "The One"

LOL, I can only imagine. It was fairly exhausting just being in the crowd trying to outdo the other 3 guys in my group. They totally nailed the mechanics to make it even enjoyable for the crowd.

One other suggestion I would have is some way to be able to check your stats while the Live game is offline. Right now you can't even run the game if it's not scheduled. I do know they have plans for an offline version for practicing but even that is supposed to be scheduled. It would be nice to be able to check stats via your gamercard or even on Xbox.com

I tried to join from 7-7:15pm but it would never let me :(

I would suggest setting a reminder & be ready to hit your Guide button as soon as the reminder toast pops up. That's what I did & I got in fast.

ALERT THE MEDIA!!!!

the unthinkable happened.... my -I hate games and even looking at a controller in your hands- girlfriend, played 1v100 with me last night and is HOOKED!

we played extended play for about 4 straight 1/2 hour sessions which for her type A personality is unheard of.

We went ahead and set reminders for the days that we know we would have a bit of time to play. I doubt she will want to do it very often but just getting her to do it a couple of times a month and sit in front of the Xbox (besides watching a movie) is a treat.

the game is fun with us playing together and the system of playing people in your row thing is way cool and had us thinking strategy and challenging ourselves. We had highs and lows when we made mistakes or triumphs. all in all a well done experience. Looking forward to a full 1v100 game too.

The actual game is a LOT more fun than the extended play. As much as you might think the one and the host and hostess are superfluous, they really add a lot to the game and you miss them when you're playing extended play.

The game is GREAT though, it really is. I think it could be huge, really one of the biggest advancements ever in interactive TV/gaming.

But there's still a ways to go. I was playing the other day with Az and each time I had the lead and the game went to commercial it kicked me out. I don't know how that happens, but it was a bit ridiculous.

So there's still something that has to be worked out in the code. It almost seems like it would be simple because when the game works it does so flawlessly you can't believe it hasn't been done before. Yet, the bugs indicate it isn't such an easy thing to build and manage.

I've got great hopes for it, I think it's a fantastic time.

It's come a long way since the early betas. We were getting kicked out regularly then. I played in the Live game last night, and there were at least 17000 players, which I found quite impressive, although I'm not used to playing the whole two hours and not getting to be in the mob. I should build up my lifetime score a bit more :)
