X360 usage with 19" LCD: your thoughts

OK, clearly X360 has native HD video output modes (480p, 720p, 1080i etc). I'm currently running a 19" LCD (5:4) which obviously does not support the HD resolution/ascpect ratio and thus the image has to be rescaled, seemingly loosing a great deal of image quality (for my liking) in the process...

While the above is accepted, the odd thing is DoA4 is about the only game that I've played so far that looks *great* on my monitor @ 1280*1024. Crisp quality, very little aliasing AFAI can tell. Are Temco the only 360 devs that remember us non-HD users? At the end of the day, do I need a HD-clarified monitor to enjoy the visuals that all other 360 games have to offer?

All thoughts welcome, thanks.

Hmm, a 19" LCD should have a native resolution of 1280x1024 - a perfect fit for 720p with black bars.

Not all games want to run in a letterbox, specifically FCI: Predator. PGR3 and Condemned will run in a letterbox @ 1024*768.

Just set the console's res to 720P widescreen in the dashboard, then turn OFF scaling in your monitor for the input you're using. The monitor will letterbox the screen for you automatically, and your 360 will not be the wiser you're not running on a widescreen display! ;)

Problem solved, heh.

Good luck with your gaming, matey.

Microsoft should just do something to the matter, it can't be that hard to make the console output 1280x1024 with black bars and enforce it so that every piece of software must work with it.
